Photographing waterfalls

Anybody ever tried it and what do you suggest? yesterday was a disaster, all 115 pics. The light was too harsh. I tried shooting from every angle I could and changed up the settings in manual a million times. Still a bunch of pink spots all over my photos and even with the tripod the photos didn't look sharp. I wanted to stick to a certain shutter speed range for the pretty water blur but then it was just way too much light coming into the camera regardless of changing the aperture, iso, etc.. Sigh. What to do to reduce the light coming in and the lens flare? After yesterday I decided I hate manual by the way. :p

Neutral Density filters, which are expensive, but I REALLY want a set.
They block the light that enters the lens by various stops (.3, .6, .9 etc and you can combine them as well) so you can do more things, like have a longer exposure time in brighter settings.

Were you using a wireless or a corded remote? Was it windy? Those would have an effect on sharpness.

Well, I live about 1/2 a mile from some gorgeous falls, so I really should go play w/settings & take some more pics. But, these 2 were taken back in June when I was scared to play w/settings on my camera. lol So, everything was set to auto. So, I don't know. Sorry. lol But, I do have some where the lighting was really bad but that was just b/c those were taken the wrong time of day. And, a lot of them are really blurry! But, it can be done! I promise! LOL

My remote is on the way from amazon :) It was extremely windy yesterday so I'm sure that even with a tripod, at 2 secs it had an effect.

I'm photography obsessed, I can't help myself! I want every single gadget for mine I can get my hands on, lol.

The wind is DEF what caused the blur then. 2 seconds is a bajillion years for a camera sensor, lol.

Also did you have your lens hood on your lens? That would help cut down some of the glare as well.
