I booked our Engagement Photo shoot for March 36th. I have been given recommendations on what to wear. Here they are:
No patterns, solids are better
No Black on top, colors are better.
Long sleeves look best (which is gonna kill Bill ... oh well LOL)
I have these bottoms as options:
dark jeans

black a-line skirt

grey dress pants

I need help finding either tops to go with these or whole new outfits.
She didn't recommend wearing plain white. Besides it is hard to find a white shirt that looks good.
Bill prefers to wear blues, I can get him into greens. Most of my closet right now is boring, blacks, browns, creams. I do like purple but I have a hard time finding a shade that looks good on me. Bill will not wear red, so that is completely out.
Now keep in mind, I am "big girl" so I can't just go to the Gap to find a cute top.

March 36th? Really??? LOL!
Hmmmm, I'm trying to think about clothes. We just had our family shoot done, and I was going to wear red. The photographer was SO thankful I didn't because she says that it gives bad coloring on the face that takes longer to edit out. She suggested soft colors that would reflect the light better. Sorry not much help. And as for the bottoms, I guess it depends on what feeling you want for your pics. If you want formal, go with the skirt or slacks, and have Bill wear some dress slacks as well, along with a button up. If you are going casual, go with the jeans & have Bill wear some as well.

could he do like a pretty blue button down shirt.. maybe with tiny pin stripes just to give i tmore depth (nothing loud) and you wearing a coordinating purple shirt? I have no idea about these things.. oh and I wouldnt' wear black on the bottom.. which is odd for me to say, as I wear almost all black.. all the time lmao.. but I think a different neutral would be better.. a dark navy/denim or like a drk brown or something.

I editted my post with suggestions! I love your location!! It sounds like it will be awesome! Lots of brick and cool architectural (sp?) stuff! I think I'd go with the jeans & more casual look.

I like La's suggestion. You can wear purple, he can wear blue, and you'll both be comfortable. And I definitely would lean towards dark denim, but I  dark denim so I'm a little biased :p
I didn't think about coordinating our engagement shoot outfits at all until it was too late and we were in NY already, lol. Oops :p

My daughter and I both wore black tops in my last photo shoot and it did not turn out that badly I dont think. Ummm I would go for complimentary colors for both you and your husband. With the photo places you mentioned maybe you could do browns or greens?

ok - not long sleeves, but cute in the "peppermint"
Wrap Shirt (http://www2.jcpenney.com/jcp/X6.aspx?DeptID=50434&CatID=51529&GrpTyp=SIZ&ItemID=160acbb&attrtype=&attrvalue=&CMID=50434%7C50449%7C51526&Fltr=&Srt=&QL=F&IND=21&CmCatId=50434%7C50449%7C51526%7C51529)
a 3/4 sleeve dress:

I think the first wrap shirt (in any of the colors) would look great with a nice pair of dark wash jeans and some cute heels! And I love the wrap dress, which would be cute with some pretty jewelry and cute heels!
