HOLY MOLY! I mean..I don't even know what to think! I have to rewatch tonight's episode to process it! lol
LOVED it...LOOOVEED it!
Does anyone remember what year Ben came to the island...it must be after 1974 I think.
And I LOVE Sawyer/Juliet together! I didn't think I would, but it really grew on my quickly lol.
I was hoping that Sun/Jin would see each other tonight...

What struck me was how HAPPY Sawyer looked with Juliet, I think that's why it grew on us so fast...he just seemed so happy, they all did.

TOTALLY!!! We've never seen him look that happy. I just hope he doesn't screw it up with Kate. :(
And I LOVED the look on Richard's face when Sawyer started talking to him! Hilarious!

Yes! I had a smile on my face from ear to ear when he brought her that flower. And I have to say the past couple of seasons I've like Juliet's character better than Kate. Now that we pretty much know she's one of the good guys - she just has something about her that I really like and I do like the chemistry we've seen the past few episodes between her and Sawyer.
Kate's baggage is just too much for me. She could have had Sawyer...SAWYER!

I LOOOOVED last nights..Gonna watch it again.
I told my DH that we'd see Charlotte as a kid since it was 1974 and sure enough we did! I wanted them to tell us the baby's name to see if it was anybody we "knew"
I really enjoyed seeing Sawyer with Juliet as well :) I totally adore them together. Hope he doesn't mess it up with Kate as well. She did have her chance BUT he's the one that sacrificed himself for her safety so wasn't like she ended things badly w/him. Shrug..not sure how I feel about it just b/c I loved seeing him so happy with Juliet.

But you know how Kate was...sleeping with Sawyer but always wanting Jack too and never really "committing" herself to Sawyer...kind of like she used him in some ways. Basically just wanting them both to want her.

I'm pretty sure the baby was Ben, because if you remember from previous flashbacks Horice is Bens father...BUT I think I remember his father hating him because his mother died during birth. Thats why Ben used that gas stuff to kill all the DHARMA people. I'm almost positive she delivered Ben. But now if thats true, they just altered the history of the island.
Does anyone else remember any of that??
(Can you tell I'm a junkie?)

Horace isn't Ben's father. He met Ben's father/mother the day Ben was born. They were in the "real world" and were out hiking when Ben's mother went into labor early. His father was carrying her and the baby out of the woods and ran into Horace on the highway and then Ben's mother died. A few years later when Ben was about 11 or so, he and his father were invited by Horace to come to the island and join the Dharma Initiative. Ben killed his father the day he killed all of Dharma.

What if it was Miles? Around the same time period of his birth I'd imagine? Put him at 35ish now...but that would be weird since Miles is an adult now on the island..but we do know that he was born on the island.

Somehow I managed to just get myself lost...lol.
Regardless though didn't Juliette just alter history? Birth on the island doesn't go as planned. So did the birth issues start after this moment or did she just change things?
That baby has got to be someone we know...

I thought it was an awesome episode but very confusing. My husband was watching with me and he's only seen like 3 episodes of the show so he has no clue what is going on so I was explaining everything to him the entire episode.
There were so many little bits of information in this episode and I loved it all.
Personally, though, I don't like Juliet. Something about the way she talks in that calming voice all the time makes me want to punch her but Sawyer looked so happy coming home with the flower that I had to forgive her.
Should be interesting with Kate back. Juliet strikes me as the kind of person that would try and get rid of Kate to keep Sawyer to herself. She did study in the school of manipulation under the tutelage of Ben. Should be very interesting.
The whole episode, though, I kept wondering when Ben would show up because he came to the island as a kid in the 70s. The whole idea of them being stuck in the past creates a huge paradox. I mean, they know what's going to happen to a point with the Dharma initiative.

But miles is obviously of Asian descent and Amy and Horace aren't...I still think Miles is the head Dharma dude's son.
Somehow I managed to just get myself lost...lol.

I'm thinking maybe the problem with pregnant women dying on the island my not have started until after the purge (Ben's mass murder).
oh and I kept calling Amy (Reiko Aylesworth) Michelle all night last night (24)
me too lol! I kept thinking she would get that detemined look on her face and take charge of the situation lol

There are always so many unanswered questions with each episode.
-What was that giant statue of? (Obviously its the whole statue that goes with the foot that we've seen.)
-Who's the baby?
-What happened to Horace's wife Olivia?
-Will there be another flash to take them back to present?
-What happened to Sawyer and Jin's "others"? (the other passengers)

OK, here's what I was telling my husband last night. I think the Oceanic 6 had to go back to the island to somehow prevent the purge. However, that doesn't explain why Ben wanted them back -- unless he wanted to purge them, too. And it also doesn't explain what Widmore is doing.
I really need to go back and rewatch Season 2 about all the Dharma stuff. I've seen it, but I still don't "get" it.
And yes, Sawyer seemed so happy. He smiled, and there was no irony in it. Too bad I have a feeling his happiness and content is almost over...

Well last night had a lot of Egyptian connections related to it. I think the statue is Anubis. If you look at the actual Anubis statue from the front you'll see it has a large version of Paul's necklace in it's hand.

also..do you think Jin taught Charlotte Korean?

The only thing is that the time jumps were random..so there was no way for Ben to know what time period they would end up in once the "record stopped jumping"...
did anyone else catch what Daniel said...that THEY weren't the ones moving but that the island was moving...

Have you read Jeff Jensen's recap? (http://www.ew.com/ew/article/0,,1550612_20245769_20263098,00.html?xid=email-alert-lost-20090305-item1) He loved it too :) :)

I missed last night's episode, as I stated earlier. Now, if I want to watch it online I have to dl a plugin from the abc.com site to watch their videos. Now, I'm not sure I want to do that just to watch this episode, lol. However, in your humble opinions, is this episode worth it to do this or should I just wait till next Wednesday at 8 pm,lol?
I think it's really helpful to look at the timelines on lostpedia - if you look there it says Ben came to the island around 1976/1977 so I would guess he will be arriving soon since they were in 1974 + 3 years.
I thought the implication that the little girl was Charlotte was interesting considering it was 1974 at the time and in an earlier episode it was established that she was born in 1979. Makes me wonder if when she and her mom left the island they skipped forward in time?
I don't think they are there to prevent the purge per se - because I don't think Ben had control to determine at what "time" they would return to the island.
I'm interested to see what happens with Annie - Ben's childhood sweetheart on the island and if she was saved during the purge.
Another comment on time travel - Daniel had said at one point that they couldn't really change history but I can't remember his point as to why they couldn't.
I think that Miles is head-dude's baby.
ETA: I don't think that statue was of Anubis, the statue's foot had 4 toes and anubis does not. Also - it just didnt' look like that from the back....just my thoughts.

I liked his recap! The eyeliner thing is interesting - it's almost hard for me to imagine that they saw this coming from that far back kwim? Sometimes I think the writers have a long range plan and they are just filling in the details and sometimes I think they are just making stuff up as they go...

They do already have a plan...they have since the beginning...the little details along the way have to be adjusted sometimes, but the overall story has always been there from the beginning which is one reason why this show is SOO good, and once they set an end date for the series a couple seasons ago it really got into swing b/c the writers had a date and knew what they needed to accomplish to get the story from start to finish. I think it's the best group of writers/producers ever as far as staying true to what they envisioned when the show started. I'm sure the story has evolved some, but I read an interview just recently that stated they were always sure of the basic story and where it would lead. I'm just a tad bit obsessed lol.
Nikki - I've read that, I'm just not sure how much I believe it. Or I guess - how much it's evolved kwim? I was thinking that their original vision was for a much shorter show. At any rate - I do agree they are a talented writing group - I love this show. :)
