We rented the DVD yesterday and watched it last night and OMG, I loved it!!! I was really captured by the love story and can't wait to see the subsequent movies, though I really want to know what happens NOW!!!!!!!!!!
yep have it and love it!
Supposedly the squeals are even better since they made so much off the first one! can't wait to see more.

LOL! Have you read the books? I think the great divide in how much people like the movie (generally) is whether or not they read the books first. The book's love story is waaaaaaaaaaay more intense than the movie's love story. So I bet you'd like them if you haven't read them.

I loved it! I've watched it three times now (once in the theatres and twice on DVD). My only issue was I kept trying to compare it to the book, and saying to myself ... it didn't happen like that, she is supposed to do this, he is supposed to say that ... but I am anal that way. hehee

I rented it last night from itunes. I'd watched it twice. I liked it. I really loved the books and went into the movie knowing that it was made for teens and that the "love" story wouldn't be developed as the book.
I really did enjoy it though. :)

I'm definitely glad I read the books first, or I'm not sure I would have liked the movie. There is soooooooooo much story that you miss. But Edward was smokin......

Nope, I haven't read the books. I am just a more visual person and I really don't enjoy reading books of this nature. I am sure the story is better through the books but I will just have to wait for the movie I guess! TALK ABOUT STUBBORN HUH??:p

Ok loved the books and while I didnt hate the movie - it seemed soo low budget to me. The acting was so stiff and I hated some of the people they picked for the parts. Elizabeth Reaser for Esme as an example, made me crazy - I hated her on Grey's Anatomy and she ruined the character of Esme in the movie for me too because I had her pictured so much more beautiful and sweet as I was reading the books.
Actually, I felt the same way about all of the Cullens for the most part - none of them were good looking enough for me with the exception of Edward :( I liked Kristin Stewart as Bella too and I thought the actor who played Charlie was perfect too.
You really do miss soooo much of the sensitivity and relationships in the movie compared to the books.
For any of you who HAVENT read the books - speaking as someone who resisted reading them for a long time and thought the Twilight hype was a lot of nonsense - READ the books - they really, truly are amazing.
Whoa - I had a lot of pent up Twilight thoughts apparently - pardon the novella :)

I watched it for the first time yesterday as well and I am so glad I read the books first. The movie didn't even come close to capturing the intense love between Bella and Edward and that was a disappointment but it was a good movie and after the 3rd time watching it I finally saw a little connection between them in the movie. For me personally, I would have hated the bad acting and the characters if I wouldn't have had the memories of the books to help me fill in the gaps and feelings where the movie fell short.

Come on Jami...I have them all...you can pop over and borrow them anytime...no waiting...wo ho ha ha (evil laugh)!
Also if you rented the movie, you can borrow mine any time too (when I finally get the darn thing, stupid Amazon! But at least I got to watch it on the computer while I wait).
Seriously, they are EASY reads and WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY
better than the movie for the whole romance thing!
But Edward in the movie is pretty darn HOT! Oh wait, can I say that or am I a dirty old lady? Nah I can't be his mom (born in '86) so that is OK!

I saw the movie in the theater before I read the books...I have to do that or the movie is usually a disappointment for me...I loved the movie...love the books even more...Since you don't like to read these type of books, perhaps you would enjoy the audio books...I have all 4 and I love to just pop one in and go about my household chores or scrapping or whatever I need to do.

I absolutely LOVE the books! Have read them three times each and I absolutely HATED the movie. Didn't like the casting, and it just didn't capture the love story that is in the books.

You guys are probably glad I wasn't around when the movie came out! LOL
I was VERY disappointed in the movie since I read the books first. It was so low budget, I hate the chick who played Bella, the only people I thought who were really well cast were Charlie and Alice. I went and saw it a second time, with more of an open mind, and didn't hate it quite as much.
**That being said...I did go out and buy it today. *giggle***

Ditto, I just couldn't help myself. It was kinda like a car wreck, you just had to look! And buy! But the third time watching it (while scrapping) was better. Although the HS friends still bug the begeeses out of me!

I saw the movie twice and liked it much better the 2nd time.....but I agree is doesn't capture the true relationship between Bella and Edward... I hope they do better with New Moon. I did buy the movie cause I want to see the deleted scenes and stuff.....I also agree with the casting for Esme and especially Carlisle.....I just expected them to be ore beautiful--especially Carlisle

I liked the books way more than the movie. My husband and I watched it and both looked at each other and said not good. I told him to try the books but not till the kitchen is all the way done!! LOL

Yeah, while I enjoy watching the movie because it puts the books into something visual, I didn't really love it.
I thought Bella acted stupid, Edward was in no way, shape or form as intelligent and articulate sounding as he should have been and it was just cheesy.
Maybe I'm the only one who thought the Cullens were well cast? Jacob as well - I can't wait to see more of him.
I just wish the movie had a bigger budget and a better director.
Jerry Bruckheimer would have been good.
LOL!!!

I only read the first book (yeap, the economy got here really bad and cant even afford a book!) and last weekend, I watched the movie. Of course the book is better, but I loved the movie !

The movie was ok for me, I do love the books though. I had issues with the movies low budget and some really bad acting. I am assuming the next ones will be better now that they have a decent budget and the main characters know their characters better.
I did think the Cullens and Bella were well cast though.

LOL, that's what the library's for! It can take a while to get them with them being so popular... you have to wait your turn. But definitely worth reading!
Haven't seen the movie yet, but it's on my must see list... I'll be going shopping tomorrow so maybe I'll pick it up while I'm in the city, I've gotta see for myself just how bad it is in comparison... lol.

Ok now having watched it again today without the gaggle of teenaged girls screaming and giggling behind me and ruining it, it was MUCH better.

I was disappointed in the movie, but it has grown on me. I hope the next one is better -- especially the special effects.

That's how I felt too! I had a GNI last night for my birthday and we watched it and was so much fun and I really enjoyed it. Still not as awesome as the book, but fun.
