I've known for a few weeks that our bank would be redoing their online banking and bill pay system. I've applauded the move, their current system is sooooooooooooooooo outdated and sucky. Well, Andrew deposited his birthday money from his mom (yes, even at 39, his mother sends him money for his birthday!) and the teller very kindly informed him that anything deposited after 1pm on 3/31 won't be accessible until 4/3 because of the changes! Yeah, hello?? Andrew's paycheck gets deposited around 1am on the FIRST of the month unless the first is on a weekend/holiday. :cursing::cursing::cursing::cursing:

That's what I said!! It seems that it's not though, especially when they give warning. The warnings on their website though, don't mention anything about accessibility of funds. Just this paper that Andrew received at the bank. The teller told him that people are taking that paper to whomever they pay bills to to explain why they can't pay on time. Ha! My landlord, not that understanding.

Honestly, I'm kicking myself on this one. This is the first month that the paycheck's been direct deposited to this account. Blah!

Totally sucks. Talk to his work and see if you can stop the direct deposit for this month.

Ugh that is not cool at all. I had to go to my bank to get our hold removed...it was holding things for 10 days! I was not thrilled. It was no problem to change, I just had to ask them to remove it, and they did it. Now when I deposit via ATM or whatever, it just goes right in, and if I mess up the calculations (yes, I've done that before), they correct them after the fact.

wow that really does suck. I always though paychecks had to be made available within 1 business day? Maybe this is just a warning though and it wont actually happen that way? You know like worst case scenario?

It's no warning. The banks is also physically closing down from 3/31-4/2. Their call centers are closing, they're not even processing direct deposits made after 1pm Tuesday. The only thing that we can do is use our bank cards (with the balance as of 1pm on 3/31) and/or write checks.

Andrew's trying to get the deposit set back to the other account for one more month.

OK that makes a little more sense as long as they are not going to "process" any transaction during that time then you should be alright using your bank card and writing checks (do people still write checks :D). I thought they were still going to process transaction (debits) but not allow your deposit to go through!! It still sucks but hoping that you will be ok sweetie!!! More (((HUGS))) for you all!!!

Andrew talked to payroll and they're going to have his check deposited to our other account one more time. Whether Bank A is processing or not, we need to be able to access that money before they'd let us, so putting it in Bank B for April is the way to go. He wasn't sure they'd do it, so he wasn't going to try until I nagged him into it.

Holy cow!!!! I would be raising such a racket!! I would be contacting the home office and going up! They should NOT NOT NOT I repeat NOT be doing this at the first of the month...that is probably the BIGGEST day of the month that people owe their bills...OM!!! My bank did this same thing...without a hold on funds for ONE SINGLE DAY!

that is wrong! Why can't they do this over the weekend? I would not hesitate speaking with a manager, first asking if this was an April Fools joke, then explaining my disappointment, and asking for a reason not to switch banks. Harsh, but I really have NO patience with banks. Can you imagine the interest they will make for not allowing anyone to withdraw their money for 2 days? I am sure it is quite a bit.

Well, not just the biggest bill pay day, it's also the biggest PAYDAY day, especially around here. Andrew's company is the largest employer in this area, and a good portion of the employees use this bank.

Well, it's definitely not an April Fools' joke. That much we know. I don't get the logic of doing this midweek either, but it's what they've decided. There have been warnings about the upgrades, just not to what extent it would affect us. I've written a letter to their main offices about my displeasure, but it won't do any good I'm sure. We just opened this account with this bank back in October, so I'm not really looking to go bank shopping again so soon. I'm more than happy with their service outside of this situation. They're quite helpful and they bend over backward for their customer base under normal circumstances. I just pray that these improvements are worth the headaches they're causing for customers right now.
