Call me crazy, but last week I actually declined the job at ACS contracting for Homeland Security. I have an interview this morning with a different company, and I have another interview tomorrow afternoon for a different contract at ACS. I have never declined a job offer before and it felt very strange. But I just called her an asked her if there was any other jobs I could submit for. The hours on the HS contract were brutal. She said, sure, that they were interviewing for another contract this week. She said that because I've already passed the typing test, the drug screen and the background check (background check being different from security clearance), that I could just come in this week and interview with the different hiring manager. The hours for this other contract are better, and it actually doesn't require a security clearance either.
I'm really nervous, because I'll be kicking myself if this other hiring manager doesn't care for me, and/or if I don't get this other job through the second company that I'm interviewing for this morning. The other job that I'm interviewing for is closer to home. I'm just a bundle of nerves. Because I don't have to work, I just want to, I can afford to be selective, but putting myself out there over and over is nervewracking.
