well, for the most part anyways. lol Still have lots of packing and cleaning to do (ever try packing and cleaning a house top to bottom with four rotten children around? lol)
We got the house!!! Yeah!!!
So yesterday I posted we were looking at a place ... turns out the realtor had two to show us yesterday. One was a 4 bedroom 1/2 duplex just down from where we are currently renting. It's on the market to sell, which kinda turned us off instantly, but we figured we would at least look - what could it hurt, right? It wasn't bad, just layed out all weird. 2 bedrooms upstairs on the top floor, 2 in the basement. Main floor was living/dining/kitchen. It had beautiful features, and some not so beautiful. lol Brand new stainless appliances, newer cabinetry in the bathrooms and kitchen. Laminate flooring and tile throughout. But the plumbing fixtures were older (yellowing in the tub, etc). And a huge drawback was the driveway is even smaller than our current house, which sucks, cause Des and I either play vehicle shuffle, or one of us parks on the street. That duplex, one of us would always be on the road, there was no room for two vehicles in the driveway.
Keeping an open mind, with no answer to whether it would work for us or not, we asked to see the house ... it was love at first sight!! It reminds me of our old house that we lived in when we were in Saskatchewan. Original hardwood throughout, save for the beautiful tile in the washrooms and entryway (newer work). The kitchen - omg - HUGE center island with cooktop, enough room for my dining room table with all the extensions in it, dishwasher (a must for us now. lol). The living room has the most beautiful old cabinet in it, that is original to the house, used as a entry closet (although it's by the back door). There is a 1/2 bath with laundry just off the kitchen (although the laundry will be moved to the basement, and a full bath put in it's place). Upstairs is 2 fairly large bedrooms - we will put all three boys in one room (bunkbeds and mates bed for the time being) and Jenna will get the smaller room with our second queen size bed (that way we have a "guest" room if we have company, all the kids will bunk together if needed, we are looking for a second bunkbed). The basement will be where we crash for the time being, although it is completely open. They will be putting a bedroom, 1/2 bath, laundry and a TV room downstairs this summer. The only drawback to the place at this moment - the upstairs bath - which is the only full bath right now - only has a shower, no tub. But all my kids like showers, so it will work. hehee Des didn't want to leave his precious garage when we were shown it. lol
Thanks for all the finger crossing for us yesterday!!! We knew the instant we saw the place we had to have it. So Des paid the security deposit on it yesterday, and we move in on the 1st!!! Only thing we are waiting to hear back on is whether the owners where we currently live will give us the first weekend in May to be completely out, since no one is technically moving right into it. That way we have time to get everything moved and cleaned properly.
