My daughter chose Speech as her second semester elective this year (8th grade), and she has totally impressed her teacher from the get-go. In fact, Avery has been impressing people since she started to read because of how much expression she uses when she has a speaking/reading assignment. So, this leads us up today where she participated in a tournament focusing on different performing arts, and she read a selection of poetry.
Well, today was the first time I got to hear her perform, and OMGosh! She was incredible! I cried. The teachers and students in the room wouldn't stop congratulating her and telling her how awesome it was.
I have loved Anne of Green Gables since I first saw it (yes...saw before read) in college, and I've compared Avery to Anne a few times throughout the years. Today totally reminded me of Anne's performance at the White Sands Hotel.
Anyways...just thought I'd share. Major proud mommy moment!
