Parker is turning one in three weeks. His birthday is on Monday the 18th so I had to decide whether to party the weekend before or the weekend after... I meet wasband once a month to get Nathan for the weekend and I've decided in May I want to get him for Mother's Day weekend. Meaning...we're moving Parker's party up to the 9th. That's 9 days before his actual birthday but I don't care. :D What I DO care about is that doing this shortens my planning time!

I will have to make a trip to the party supply store in Lexington this weekend and see what I can specifically get, but I need party ideas!

Since he'll only be one once and it's my LAST first birthday, I kind of want to do the baby boy blue "one" theme to the max. But it's a little cliche. But I kind of want to do it anyway :p

I think it would be so cute to do a Hawaiian theme and dress Naomi in a grass skirt, buy Parker a Hawaiian print shirt (my DH was born in HI), and give out Leis, etc....

That being said, I can totally use that idea any year and the "1" is only good for this once.

Help!

Do I go traditional or what?

My bf and I were pg together and she's doing bugs for her ds's party and they're doing it in the backyard. I think that's darling. But me, I'm stuck.

Thanks girls!

Well, will Naomi allow you to dress her in a grass skirt next year? That would color my decision, lol.

I'd go traditional for the final "1" party. The Hawaiian thing can, like you said, be done any year!

I'd go for the traditional! Pretty soon you can't do the baby blues (or call him a baby anymore) so I say Live It Up now! You have many more years to be creative with themes!

I would do the baby blue boy "one" theme, that's what I did last year for Kyle's first birthday and it was so cute. I found the plates, napkins, decorations etc. at Walmart and then ordered his cake to match. It was a cupcake cake in the shape of a one!

Yeah - blues. :) You can do Hawaii nect year.

I made Evie (DD#2) a T-shirt that said "The BIG one." At the time, she had the chubbiest baby hands, feet and thighs. :)

Oh yeah Kyle's outfit matched too! I got lucky and found at Target (I think) the cutest little blue plaid shorts that were the exact colors and then paired them with a blue t-shirt.

His 2nd birthday is this Sunday and we are doing a Diego party since that is his fave cartoon of the moment and I think I'm going to order another cupcake cake in the shape of a two to match his stuff this time! I order them from Walmart and they are actually cheaper than a regular cake of the same size if I remember right.

I went traditional for the first birthday...had the favors that said 1 and everything else to go along with.

We didn't go for all the blue though but found a baseball 1st birthday kit and then bought some red, white and blue accessories to go with...GO CUBS!!! We found a baseball shirt that had the #1 on it. The party stores have lots of first birthday goodies!!

Good luck (the little grass shirt and hawaiian shirts sound soooo cute though)
