All of the invites have been sent out, we'll post the results in a day or two.

Fee wanted to thank all of you soooo much for applying for her team. It really sucks that we didn't have enough room to invite everyone. But I kept the list of everyone that applied and if Fee decides to add guest spots you ladies will be the first ones to get the invite.

Thank you all again so much for applying. You don't know how hard it was to help Fee go thorugh all of your awesome galleries. And I truly mean that.

I was rejected for a lot of calls at the beginning of the year, and it's hard. But I figure, perhaps I just wasn't the right fit for them at the time, I try not to think it's because I suck or something. LOL!

Vanessa, I know it was difficult for you to go through them, so kudos to you. ((hugs))

I spaced on the date, so I never got my app in, in time. LOL

Congratulations to everyone who made it! Woot!

Oh you're pages don't suck, trust me. It was a very hard process, trust me as someone that has been rejected A LOT!!! I've applied to be a Babe like 5 times, It's taken me years to get on the teams I'm on.

Don't get caught up in the Creative Team aspect of digital scrapping, you've got to do it for yourself or you'll get disappointed. We all do, I know I do. When I started scrapping more myself and stopped worrying about teams and such it all fell into place.

You just have to keep putting yourself out there. It took me twice to get on Manda, Christy, and Zoe's teams. Don't get discouraged.

Ok, here's something I have to get off my chest. First, let me say that I totally understand the disappointment of not getting on a team. EVERYONE has been there.

But I guess I don't understand the point in complaining in an open forum. The only purpose it serves is to make the "bearer of bad news" (Vanessa in this case) feel even more awful about having to turn people away. CT calls are hard on not only the applicants, but the designers and their liasons who have to tell perfectly good scrappers "thanks but no thanks". Its not an easy job, so give them a break! Just because you got told "no" doesn't mean you're a crappy scrapper! And whining about not getting on a team or whining about who *did* get picked only makes you look bad and makes the designer feel guilty. None, of which, is necessary.

I'm just sayin'...

Ouch Jenny! I don't think anyone here was complaining or whining about not making a CT. I think they were just expressing their disappointment in not making it.

Paula

And I know how hard it is to chose and have to send rejections to others. It's darn hard because you don't want to hurt anyone's feelings.

I'm on Fee's team, so I have no place in this thread, but I second what Jenny said, I've been turned down for 3 Ct's this past week... but I've won a scrap off contest, and I've had another designer ask me to join her Ct out of the blue, so, like everything in life, scrapping has it's hills and valleys.

And yes, when I get turned down for CT's that I want really really bad, I feel kind of crappy, but I don't think I'd publicly complain about it. It's a big wide digi world, I figure if I want a team bad enough, I need to put the forum work in and get to know the designer... most of the designers I've created for have appreciated my... erm... personality rather than my scrapping skills, and if these designers I covet so much don't know me, why would they pick me?

There will be other calls, there are always other calls... in fact, it's getting to be that time of the year, ladies... ;)

Paula

I also don't have any place here since I'm already on the team. I just want to say I'm sorry to those that didn't make it. But, Bryn is right - it's that time of year. :)

It is a very hard process! I've been there too!

I want to apologize if my comment (which I have deleted) hurt anyone's feelings. I certainly do NOT want anyone to think I was bashing them. I am so sorry if I made any of you feel that way.

I also want to apologize to Fee. I certainly do NOT want anyone to think that I am negating Fee's choices in any way. She chose those who she felt would best fit the team and represent her.

I am just all up in knots over this. I am so sorry to every one.

Rejection is my middle name. I luck up sometimes and make some here and there, but usually I live by Murphy's Law and just try to make the best of it. Worse things in the world for me to sling a hissy fit over than whether I make a CT or not. Of course I do have my own little crying session every time I get the sugar babe rejection letter from Robin (kidding......seriously, I just know there are better scrappers than me that deserve the spot, it's the designer's business and not mine, and suck it up). I can't wait to get turned down again next time they have a call! LOL! Good times, good times. You just eventually get used to it and take it with a grain of salt. Know that it's not always just a layout they look at either, sometimes we don't know all the criteria. Who knows, maybe they had a million emails and ended up having to draw from a hat? :p

Paula

I'm just sayin'...Thank you for saying this, Jenny. It's pretty much exactly what I wanted to say, and I know I couldn't have said it better myself.

Designers/CTleaders have to reject way more good scrappers and nice people than they can possibly take any time they have a call. I know they agonize over it, and I know some designers no longer even have calls because it's too hard.

Paula
05-06-2009, 05:10 PM
I think we all agree that CT calls are hard on everyone from the applicant, the designer or the CT head who's helping. It's hard to get rejected and it's hard to reject someone. If someone expresses their disappointment at not getting selected, it doesn't mean they are complaining or whining about it. They're disappointed and it certainly doesn't mean that anyone is a crappy scrapper.

Designers have a business to run and they select people who they feel will best represent their business and fit with their current teams. I'm sure it's nothing personal, it's just business. It's disappointing to not get selected, but use that time between calls to get your name out there, hone your scrapping and show that designer why she can't live without you. :)

Probably the wrong place to ask this, but I was just wondering if the designers at SSD look for something different then designers elsewhere do? Hmm, I know thats probably not a question that can even be answered since you are not designers elsewhere. lol Its just that I have been rejected from every single call that has been announced here in the last year (except for a small handful of ones where I didn't see the call until it was over) and I was just wondering if there is something here that I am not doing that could help.

hey mari...i know i'm not a designer but i know everyone looks for different things. amazing lo's and great photos is number one. also, your other current CT commitments (can sometimes be the biggest factor of all), involvement in our community and a great attitude. i would say looking at this list and what i know from experience on both ends (applying for calls and holding them) that you are on your way. don't sell yourself short, don't loose hope when you don't make it and don't worry that your not good enough. don't compare yourself to those that do make it. they were once on the other side of the fence as well. one day you will wake up and be on your dream teams. ;) i also wanted to say just in general that everyone needs to stop taking not making a team so personal. there really are so many factors in choosing new members that it's silly to get so upset over it, kwim? really...just have a great attitude and you'll get there.

Thank you so much for posting this. Looking at the call applicants and the amazing quality of work, I could have quite easily picked everyone. Unfortunately you have to draw the line somewhere :(

When I pick CT members there are several things that I look at...

- firstly I look at your galleries. Usually I'm drawn to certain people because I just love their style...I can't put my finger on what that is but I just think...yeah I like these layouts. If I get inspired by your layouts then chances are other people will...which is what I want. And I don't just look at seasoned scrappers...if you relatively new but are a little bit quirky, have a style that would suit my products, great photography or shows potential you have just as much chance.

- I also look at what you write on your apps. It would vary for each designer but for me personally I look for people that would gel well with me. If you are a little bit kooky, have a great sense of humour and don't mind poking a designer that likes to hide under a rock 90% of the time you are the girl for me :) Show your personality in your applications...when you have a heap of awesome scrappers...that may be the determining factor. I've also visited blogs to get to know applicants.

- Another thing is how active you are in the forums. While its not a requirement for me I do like girls to be quite active especially here at SSD. I'm quite shy on the public boards so I need BIG TIME help getting my name out there :)

I think they are my main points. I guess the only thing I can say is that if you want to be on a CT...keep trying...you just never know your luck. Being on a CT is a bonus but if you aren't on one it certainly doesn't mean you aren't great at what you do :)

Fee :)

girls I feel you really can't let these things get to you.

I have tried for soooo many ct teams. I think I've tried for la's team um.. 3 times maybe. I figure I bug enough they will finally take me. ;)

I feel they just want to see happy positive people with a good sense of humor. Just get into the forums and really get to know everyone. This is the designers home, and if you love being in their home they will really welcome you in with open arms. I can't imagine how hard of a job it is too look through *probably up to 50 people* and try to decide who will fit you better, and who you should give a spot too. *when you can only choose 5*

fee you're the best. i forgot to say in my post that personality does play a big role too. be fun. be yourself. you know? i've never taken one ct application serious a day in my life (i know...surprise surprise).

Paula
05-07-2009, 12:14 PM
I used to take it serious, but now I just figure I wasn't a good fit for the designer at the time. I just also have to say that nobody should EVER think it's because their scrapping stinks.

Thanks, Lizzy and Fee. That does help, I know I never put any real personality into the application, just answer the questions that were asked in list format. That's something I will have to work on. I did miss this call (by an hour...stupid work ;)), I just thought it would be a good time to ask.
