I'm thinking maybe all the black marks are for the CGI sparkles? But he's not supposed to actually step into the sun and sparkle, so I'm not sure. I vaguely recall that he was sparkling in the shadows from the sun that was bouncing in off the ground? Am I crazy? I can't remember.
I thought the same thing last night though, totally weird with all those marks.

At least I have time to get the books (borrowed them the first time) and reead them before it comes out.

The black dots all over Rob are motion/body movement trackers or something like that for the CGI sparkling that will be added in post-production, there was a lot of talk in some of the comments about what they were for.

I read that Chris Weitz is like a CGI genius and he said that one of his highest priorities for NM was making the sparkling look a lot more realistic than in Twilight so hopefully so!

I'm so excited that we'll be seeing more of Edward than what was originally in the book! I think they'll be like Bella is having hallucinations or visions of him.
