I'm curious to find out if they make a good point and shoot camera that doesn't have that long pause in between taking pics. I have a DSLR and I picked out a P&S camera for xmas for my in laws to get me. It wasn't an expensive one but something I could fit in my purse. Well the pause in between pics drives me nuts. It normally wouldn't be a HUGE deal but I am going to a concert next month and I want a new P&S to bring with me that doesn't have that....if possible. I don't want to spend a ton of money though. Does any one have a P&S that takes great pics and doesn't have that lag in between or do you know of one? I prefer Canon BUT I am open to suggestions. ;) I just don't want to waste money on something I THINK is going to work only to get it home and find out it isn't what I was expecting.
Thanks in advance girls!

My Canon S3IS does not have a long wait between pics :) They now have an S5IS though...maybe even a 6, lol! I like it pretty good.....but it's pretty big. If you are wanting a really small P&S that you can put in your pocket this is not for you, lol! But I do carry it in my purse most of the time. :)

What was that camera .. with all the commercials a while back. Where they gave cameras out to a community to try out etc.. I know that one was boasting about shutter speed/lack of delay/etc. For some reason I think it was a kodak? I dunno. I have a cannon powershot.. it's meh with the speed.

The shutter lag on my P&S is pretty good (less than 1 sec between shots). BUT (and that's a BIG but)...mine does not fit nicely in a purse. I have a Prosumer camera (extended zoom, lots of manual controls). My dh jokingly calls it the "mack-daddy" camera.

**ETA - I have a large purse, so I do carry this in my purse a lot!

I have to agree with Crystal.....I had the S2IS before my Rebel and it rocked the no lag!!! But like she said...it's not a pocket camera...but I was always throwing it in my purse and diaper bag!!!! Our P&S now is a Nikon L16 and it's not the best at shutter speed......but it works for all the kids but my 1 year old!!!!

Canon has been having some really good sales lately! and lag time was really noticeably down, for me at least from my SD630, on these models (http://estore.usa.canon.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/CategoryDisplay?catalogId=10051&storeId=10051&categoryId=17756&langId=-1&parent_category_rn=12078&top_category=12078&pageView=)...
SD780 IS
SD960 IS
SD1200 IS
love love the new colors! the SD 780 is tiny! and the SD1200 is definitely the cheapest, as it has no video function, but the constant focus drives down battery... and some of the models are on sale at Costco with coupons, too... HTH! enjoy your concert!
