My hubby made me drive home from the city tonight!

I'm not sure how many of you know...I'm 28 and I don't have my driver's license, lol. I've had my learner's since I was 15, but just never got around to getting my driver's (well, that's not true...I tried twice when I was 16 but failed both times). I haven't driven our van EVER, and we've had it for a year and a half!

Anyway, we made it home safely, lol...it was just DH and I so it was a little less stressful than having the kids in the van, lol! Now...to practice some more and get my license!

PS...Jae, I bet I'll get mine before you do! ;)

I think the longer you wait, the harder it must be to actually get it. I have a 21 year old that doesn't have his. I've got two applications for getting one sitting on my counter...I threaten (yes...threaten) to take him down every week. I've just got to do it!

I failed mine too, and it took me a year to go back and try again. Ours expire here after a year, so I had no choice, or I was going to have to do the learner's test again!

Just keep at it, you can do it! And just imagine being able to do what you want, when you want!

Good for you Bree! I was 28 when I got mine and it was such a relief to get it and have people stop bugging me about it, but to tell you the truth, I really haven't driven since I got it. LOL

Good luck!

I don't have a license to drive. I don't know how to drive a car. LOL
I don't know how to ride a bicycle (true story)!! :p
I'm just scared about traffic, crazy people on the road, MYSELF alone on the streets - people should be aware of hehee, etc.
I live in a big CRUH-AZY city in South America: people here don't get used to basic principles like respect the red lights (again - true story), for Pete's sake! It's a jungle here! LOL

Bree, I was older than you when I finally got mine - now I don't know what I did without it!

I still can't believe you don't have a license. I wouldn't be able to deal without mine, lol.

Congrats!!! Way to Go!!!

I can't imagine myself not having one, were I grew up it was a necessity...we lived 40+ miles away from stores and gas stations.....everything. Heck my bus ride to school was over an hour long  So of course as soon as it was allowed everybody had their license. But I can understand those that live near "everything" and have access to good public transportation not having a license!! There are some days I wished I lived in a place like that and didnt' have a license!!! :D

Okay Bree, I was 23 with 2 kids when I got mine. I took driver's ed because my ex-dh wouldn't take me out. I failed the first time. But I passed the second. And I am telling you that you need to just do it. You will feel a million times better. If the let 16 year olds do it it can't be so hard. LOL

I know me too!! I was bugging mom big time to take me to get my license...but had to wait until I had driver's ed in school. Now our schools don't have it. My oldest was 17 before he got his...but he was working and I was getting pretty tired of taking him to work and picking him up.

Next month I will have 2 teens eligible to get their learners permit but with their inattention...I'm not going to remind them about it...one could have gotten it last year. Hoping they will mature and be able to handle it...but I can't afford the insurance with 2 underaged teenage boys driving!!

I'll be 35 in August, I don't have a license either. I do know how to drive, I just choose not to at this time. Andrew's pushing me to get a license even though I've told him I will only drive in town--no highways/interstates/bridges. No roads one which a big rig can go.

See, I have no problem with highways, lol...it's in town that I have trouble! I learned to drive in a REALLY tiny town with just stop signs, lol...this town has lights and stuff...seems scary to me!

I know I need to get mine too (I'm 26 this summer), but I honestly don't want it. I really do NEED it though. I'm scared all the time that if something happens to Avalynne - how can I get her to the hospital? Sometimes the ambulance might take too long or something, DH doesn't always have a signal for his cell phone, my mom might not be available.

Of course, if something were to happen to DD, I would drive like hell to the hospital - with or without a driver's license, consequences or not!

I don't drive, well actually I legally probably wouldn't be able to with my eyesight. Although public transport where I live isn't the greatest (an hour each way to the city where I work & study) I don't actually mind it as I have been doing the commute for almost 2 and a half years.

Good for you, Bree! And you know, once you have your license, you'll wonder why you waited so long to get it. You'll love having it...trust me :)

Bree, I did not try to get my license until I was 24 years old....I guess I got tired of planning all my appointments, trips to see friends, shopping, etc. around my husband and other family members and decided to take my road test....Heck, they were so happy the day I scheduled my road test my Mom baked me a cake....No lie, she baked a cake in celebration, came to the road test site and hid in her car with the cake 'til she found out if I passed it or not....LOL

Good luck! You CAN do it!

Good luck Bree!

I've had my license since I was 15! lol...In MS back then you could get your permit at 14 and your license at 15 and I went on my 15 b-day lol...I learned how to drive at like 12 though...one of the perks of growing up in the country :) Still, I cannot imagine not driving, especially around here b/c we live in a rural area and you can't just walk to the store kwim? It'd be like a 20 mile hike lol. There was a period of about 10 mos when we decided that I would quit work, that we were paying off all our debt so we sold one car and just had DH's truck and it was a nightmare...I need my own car lol.

I can't even stand it when my car is in the shop for a day! I feel trapped if I don't have my car waiting for me outside when I want to go somewhere.

Oh I know! Me too! It's like I suddenly come up with 10 different errands I NEED to do when the car is in the shop...but I could stay home for a couple of days and not think of a thing while I scrap. lol

My kids couldn't do all the things they do if I didn't drive...acckkk 24/7 and never leaving the house with homeschooling them...I'd be walking to the funny farm! :p

It's so funny you said that b/c mine has been in the shop since Friday and they are going to have to keep it til Wednesday at the earliest!! It hasn't been soo bad yet b/c DH is still on leave so I've been able to use his truck if I need to but he goes back to work tomorrow and I'm already getting antsy about it lol. I mean what if I need to go somewhere :p
