my daughter and her best friend are on the poster for our local community festival - Coal Miner Days! Of course, it helps that my friend Marcie's sister is in charge of the festival, so she used Jenna & Audrey's pic from last years festival (right after they got their faces painted). The bed racing pic is Marcie and some of her ball team members (and her nephew on the bed).

We are so excited for a fun weekend! Hopefully the rain they are calling for on Saturday goes away!

Sounds like fun! If I had applied for my passport card when DH asked me to, I'd be able to come up there... maybe next year

Julie apparently they are still giving a grace period for not needing the passport - that you just get a lecture at the border.. lol Not sure how good it is. We need to go get our passports cause i'd really like to come down that way at least for a day this summer.

hmm... there was an article in our local paper last week or the week before saying it was necessary since June 1st, and that surprisingly there hadn't been many problems at our border crossing. I will have to ask DH if they have been making him show his passport or just his drivers license lately.

yea there was an article in our paper (well online) saying that even though it was necessary there would be a grace period and that they weren't sure how long it would last but maybe till the end of summer. Sounded like it has to do with tourism and $$. Still not sure if i'd want to chance it without - i'd probably call the border patrol where you'd come through and ask.

Julie, if you ever decide to come up here, let me and K know!! That would be awesome to get together ... even though Kristin is totally shy. hehehehe

LOL... my oldest was going up there with DH last summer and I called the local number to ask what all was needed on a notarized permission slip from me. Anyway, the local number said they couldn't answer any questions, all questions had to go to an 800 number info line. I called that and I was on hold for around 20 minutes and the person I talked to could hardly speak english.

I'll be up there sometime :) We went up to the zoo in Edmonton last fall, wish we would have had time to stop then, but it was a very quick trip.

And same thing applies to either of you... if you come down here or to Kalispell, be sure & let me know!

oops, that's actually what I meant! Paula Duncan told me the Calgary one was better than Edmonton.
