So.. recently- I've decided to pretty much completely eliminate tv time for ce for a number of reasons. So he's been earning movies etc instead, but his movie selection is severely lacking lol.
So I need suggestions.. so I can like make a list and start building up his collection. what movies do you have.. what movies do you (and your kids) love etc etc.
oh and he's 5.5

What we have:
Little Mermaid
Wall-e
Meet the robinsons
Ice age (the first one I think)
charlotte's web
wild thornberry's (I don't even know where that came from lol)
arthur & the incredibles
milo & otis
march of the penguins
poc 1-3 & x-men (though I'd prefer no more movies like those for now)

I know I want to get him happy feet & the other ice age.. but I can't think of anything else. Mostly...... I'm tired of all of the above movies. ^_^ They don't all have to be "boy" flicks.. he's pretty open about the princessy things- and loves tinkerbell ^_^ so whatever.

Kendra's favorite favorite is Bolt right now. Even at 11, she wears that one out (it's about a dog who thinks he has super powers).

Wishbone (they were on PBS so your local library may have some if you would like to try them out to see if he likes them before buying)

My sons absolute favorite movies at that age was Land Before Time. He is 15 now and he wont admit it but he still watches the new ones when they come out LOL. I love Land Before Time because Ive always loved dinosaurs. Another one he liked alot at that age was Batman and Robin. I think it is an ok movie. I didnt notice if you hAve Finding Nemo that is another of my favorites and Lilo and Stitch movies are soooo awesome. Seriously Lilo and Stitch are my two favorite disney characters. They have a new Tinkerbell movie coming out this month or next I think that looks really cute. I rented the first full length Tinkerbell movie and did not think I would like it because it wasnt like a regular cartoon but I thought it was adorable!!

My son loves:

Madagascar 1 & 2
Toy Story
The Bee Movie
Ratatouille
Robots

Those are just a few that haven't been mentioned. If you watch the sales, you can get some of them pretty reasonably priced. :) That is how I've bought all of the ones we have.

All really good suggestions above. We have most of the new Disney and Dreamworks movies for the kids. Now they're starting to get into the ones that aren't really cartoons - like Beverly Hills Chihuaha, etc (I can't think of any others, but they're out there...they ask for them all the time, lol). They're 5 and 6...

I'm browsing @ disney now.. and I saw that and got a lil excited. I didn't realize it was a movie .. he has a collection of disney books and that's one of the ones he has, he makes me read that story over and over LOL

We bought a bunch of live action movies for our kids to watch in the van:

Night at the Museum
Zathura
Jumanji
Bedtime Stories
Enchanted
Sky High
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
Back to the Future (my kids love this one)
Scooby Doo
Parent Trap
Freaky Friday

Ack! Those may be too "old" for your son, but just to give you some ideas. I just got to the point where I was sick to death of cartoons. We also sometimes will get old TV series to watch -- my girls love Full House, Saved by the Bell, Sabrina the Teenage Witch. We join Netflix every summer because I seriously need the help entertaining the kids. As long as their watching, I want something I'll enjoy too.

LOL! Disney likes to put those in the vault and make a really big deal of bringing those out. We used to own a video store, so Kendra has all the old Disney videos that aren't available anymore. ;)

the older disney movies are retired to the disney vault for seven years I think and they are always bringing new ones back out. You would have luck for that kinda thing searching on ebay, half.com, amazon and also on blockbuster.com I think you can buy the movies at a discount if you are signed up for the movies through the mail. that would be another suggestion so you can keep fresh movies for him coming throughout the month is to sign up at blockbuster or netflix and let him choose movies he wants to see or help you choose them and it is like a little surprise every few days when he gets a new one

It's been advertised as a "girl" movie but "Enchanted" is a really good one. I didn't hate it and Emma LOVES it.

Robin Hood is a big hit here
All the Pixar movies (Monsters, Inc. especially)
There's been some really good ones mentioned!

Check used stores...like I saw a 3 pack of toy story dvds at one today... 1, 2, and something else in the box for $24 ... or toy story 2 for $10.... Vintage Stock is where I saw them....almost bought that big toy story one...but I had just paid $155 for Gilmore Girls so had troubles justifying TODAY... lol

Mine aren't allowed to watch Nemo. At the beginning, Nemo tells his dad he hates him, and they watched it once and then I got "I hate you' for a day or so and that was the end of that movie. LOL

Here's some we have:
Cars (I can recite every. single. line. J is obsessed)
Kung Fu Panda
Sleeping Beauty
The Goofy Movie
Tinkerbell
Both Ice Ages
Incredibles
some Dora movies
wonder pets
Lady & The Tramp

i'll look through the rest

I highly recommend checking out the library for some free movies that you can rotate so you won't go crazy!!

My girls love Wishbone, Return to Neverland (Disney), Monsters Inc, The Incredibles, plus I think you can get some of the TV shows on CD for kids now...like Handy Manny, Higglytown Heros if you want to keep it younger.

Camden is almost 6 and LOVED the old Swiss Family Robinson. It was lots of fun and was made back when there was no blood even during the pirate fight scenes.

I have to put in my vote for Veggie Tales (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xDCSV6SMJiA), as well.
They are Christian based but teach a lot about sharing, caring and how to be a good friend and all around good person.
And they have lots of adult humor so parents love them as well. I wish I still had our Veggie Tales collection, I'd sit and watch them myself.

Ok, also any Scooby!! My whole family totally loves Scooby Doo! I grew up on it and now so have my kids. I think we have seen every movie & episode every made. And yes, I'll admit it, I will still find myself turning on Scooby (especially Zombie Island!!) when I am at home alone!! Then again, I've always had a thing for Fred! He's so sexy!
