Have you checked out the tutorial section? Cuuuuz I found a pretty kick ace new way to sharpen images, and I'm in love

ETA: There are 2 sharpening methods in there. I haven't had much success with the edge sharpening, but I  the high pass filter sharpening.

high pass sharpening is awesome! I started doing it a couple years ago from a tutorial at ILP

I'm totally in love K! I had no idea how much better it could be compared to Unsharp Mask! Of course, if I had been paying attention, I think all of PW's actions (which I'm also obsessed with) use high pass if they have sharpening in them, lol. I just didn't know what it was!

I've been meaning to try edge sharpening after finding a tutorial and free action at the MCP blog a few weeks ago, but I haven't got round to it yet. I usually use high pass as well.

Here's a link to the blog post if anyone's interested: http://mcpactions.com/blog/2009/07/15/free-edge-sharpening-photoshop-action-and-tutorial/

Yea that's the one that I'm not having much luck with Kristine. But maybe it's just me and it'll be usefull for others :)

Thanks for the tip Col! I really need to spend more time at the site since I'm paying for it. I think I've been there twice but there's so much information that it's overwhelming.

I'm also excited because a local photographer where I live is going to do an 8-hour workshop for his friends and acquaintances and DH asked him to sign me up for it. I hope he gets it together soon because I am really looking forward to it. Apparently he is going to do 4 hours of "classroom" training, teaching you how to use your camera and then another 4 hours of photo shoot time where he will help with lighting, etc. and give feedback.

I hear ya Kat. I've only been in there twice or so since I signed up over 2 months ago, lol. I decided to just kinda wander around this morning, and in the just clickin it section I found a reference to the sharpening tutorial. So I skipped over to the tutorial section of the site, and now I'm devouring information :)

I think a great thing to do would be to go in there and pick 1 tutorial and go through it, and then practice it. Focus on just one thing that you want to learn (exposure, aperature, shutter speeds, ISO, composition, whatever you want) and go from there. :)

I had bookmarked the site once before, but never did it. Is it worth it?

Which site? Clickin' Moms? Or the MCP site?
Clickin' Moms is definitely worth it. TONS of information plus tons of informative people who are more than willing to answer questions and help you with what you're struggling with. The were running a promotion a few months ago for a few month of membership and a lot of people signed up.

If you're interested (no discount available - I just checked), let me know and I'll send you my referral link.
