I never had stinky armpits until I had kids. {And that's the facts they DON'T cover in child birth class, SERIOUSLY.}
No deoderant, anti-persp. - NOTHING works. I've tried Degree, Secret, Lady Mitcham...all with the same results. The expensive stuff works okay, but still kinda stinky. Not *as* stinky, but should be a whole lot better if I am going to shell out more $$.
I don't sweat, I just smell like BO. I ask my DH all the time if I smell & he says no, but *I* can smell me. Today I even smeared DH's manly man deoderant on to see if it helps. It does a bit.
Any suggestions on what to try? Or is it hopeless? I'm I just destined to be Stinky Steph. :)
oh steph I'm the same way. I've tried everything. I'm trying the prescription strength ones like degree and secret, after awhile they don't seem to help. More of my problem seems to be that I sweat. I teach a class and I'm constantly moving around and it drives me crazy. I have noticed when I wear baby powder deodorant it helps some. I'm going to check in here again and see what others say!

Maybe ask your Dr? I think there are some extra-strength perscription stuff you could try. Hopefully, not too expensive. Also, maybe try using a deodorant soap and then using an antiperspirant/deodorant? Maybe the combo would be enough?
Good luck. Maybe your hormones have just made your sense of smell more accute?

I use the Secret or Dove Clinical strength. I put it on at night before bed. I think it works better than the regular stuff!

Yea, I just started using the clinical strength stuff. I sweat a lot, but I don't have the BO problem that you seem to have.
If it makes you feel better, I used to have the WORST smelling feet imagineable. I remember one night a family friend picked me up after a 90 minute basketball practice. I changed my shoes, and one of the kids asked if someone had forgotten to take a dirty diaper out of the car.

Stephanie - since having my 2nd child...and entering the peri-menopausal stage, my sense of smell has changed dramatically, and smells just smell stinker to me now than they did before. BO, or other 'sour' smells ares a whole new ballgame now, and I can't stand them more than I couldn't stand it before, if that makes any sense at all.
So while YOU may be able to notice it on yourself more, other people might not, and it might not be as public of a thing as you're worried it might be. But I totally get not even wanting to smell it on yourself.

I saw a thing about this on tv. It says you should put the deoderant on before bedtime and not after a shower I think? Maybe try wiping with an alcohol wipe to kill any bacteria before you put on te deoderant? Try putting baking powder under your armpits as it tends to absorb odors? Im not really sure. I only smell really bad in the morning when I wake up and I just wash under my arms and then dry them and put on deoderant.

My BFF and Mom drive me nuts because they swear they never stink, sweat or have hairy anything....I totally do LOL I swear by Certain-Dri...it's the only thing that works for me and DH loves it too, he likes the roll-on, I like the solid. It definitely works better when you put it on at night.

i say you grow out your pit hair to complete the package and call it a day.
k, not really. i have no idea. is BO a problem with overall Ph balance? if so, you should see your doc or a nutritionalist for suggestions. maybe your body is low on certain minerals or something.
i have no idea, i think i just talked out of my butt just then.

Stephanie - maybe try something more natural like a deodorant stone and see if it works better for you? I love mine, and will never give it up, ever. Some come as just a rock, some come in applicators.

This totally happened to me when I had my 3rd baby! I am not sure what it is that happens some hormone imbalance or something. I would ask my mom, my husband they would all the say the same thing "We don't smell anything" But yes I can smell it! IT STINKS!! Am I going nuts!? Whats wrong with me?! Finally after trying very kind of deodorant/antiperspirants I went with the Arm & Hammer Baking soda kind Unscented! It seemed to be the only thing that worked for me I also talked to the OB told her that I just FELT Hot and Sweaty all the time to see if there was anything she could give me other than BCP there isn't much they will do for you but if you are fine with those the added hormones do seem to help. Other than that it just takes time for your body to adjust. *sigh* GL!

all i know is that you made me laugh and i am trying to stifle it as not to draw attention to myself.
i've thought about growing out my arm pit hair just to see how long it takes for my hubby to say something.

I have the same problem. The expensive stuff works for me, but I have trouble justifying the cost sometimes.
My co-worker's teenage daughter has the same issues. She went to the doctor and he gave her a cream to try (use once a day at night). If it doesn't work, they can try botox. Her mom says if anybody's getting botox, it's not going to be the daughter's pits! :)

I don't like to be sweaty AT ALL and love this stuff. I only use it like once or twice a month at night and it makes an amazing difference. It makes me itch a bit, and I certainly wouldn't use it if you've just shaved, but the results are worth it. You can find it at Target, for sure, and I'm sure other places, too.

Looks like they have a new morning version, too...HTH!
