to make THIS and not sit and eat the entire batch at once. (http://www.chexmix.com/Recipes/RecipeView.aspx?RecipeId=19919&CategoryId=342) Because I came pretty darn close lol. So I froze the rest to try and deter my munchies and you know what?? they taste good frozen too! :p

Replace one cup of the chex with nuts (walnuts are my fave) - even better than plain muddy buddies!

Oh, I've been making this for years! My grandmother showed me how to make it when I was little and she would make it with me all the time and it is still a party favorite!!! We called it Puppy Chow though! LOL! And YES, VERY VERY addicting!

OH no!!! I made the mistake of making a batch for our road trip and I think I ate the whole batch myself... at least the scale showed I gained 4 pounds. My 2 year old DS didn't like it (odd)... and my hubby prefers regular chex mix... so it was all mine.
I'm drooling thinking about it...

I was afraid to click it...but looked at the ingredients...I'm safe from it...I don't care for peanut butter except on PB&J and to dip carrots into. LOL I was afraid it was going to be a recipe similar to what I made last month that about put me in a chocolate coma!

You know, as soon as I saw your first sentence, I just KNEW you were talking about Puppy Chow, even without seeing what you were making! That stuff is like snack crack.

No, this is crack. Seriously.
1 box Rice Chex (or other brand)
1 1/3 C. sugar
1/2 C white Karo syrup
1 C butter (2 sticks) NOT MARGARINE
2 tsp. vanilla
1-2 C peanuts (whatever you like)
Pour box of rice chex in a huge bowl. Heat sugar, Karo syrup and butter over stove with candy thermometer, until it reaches the softball stage (240 degrees). If you don't have a candy thermometer then you will know it's done when it's really bubbling and turns a caramel color. Remove from burner and add 2 tsp. vanilla (be careful, it may spit at you). Add peanuts and stir. Pour over the rice chex and mix/stir with a big spoon until it is all coated. Spread it out on a "sprayed" wax paper or tin foil until it cools. Enjoy!
It's addictive!!!
