I just got back from the doctor who says I'm 3 cm dilated and 75% effaced. However, I haven't had any contractions (BH or otherwise), cramped, bled, or lost my mucus plug yet.

My MIL, who is a retired OB nurse, is 'impressed' with these numbers and doesn't think I'll make it through the week. The doctor has me scheduled for induction next Tuesday, the 18th, at 7 am. My due date is the 28th.

What do y'all think? Will I make it to Tuesday?? Has anyone else ever gone to 38 weeks before with no contractions, but dilation and effacement?

Soo... one way or the other, we'll be having a baby in the next week! I am excited and terrified.

I think youll have it this week sometime. My sister went for quite awhile being dilated (several days at least). If I had to guess Id say maybe Friday or Saturday.

Oh just wanted to add when I went into labor with my son I didnt even know I was in labor!! Just had back pain that felt like I had slept wrong or something and I couldnt get comfortable no matter how I sat/laid. I finally went to the hospital and they told me I was in labor LOL

I was 3 cm dialated for a while, so it is possible that you could make it to Tuesday. Good luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was dilated to 3 cm with my younger son at 35 weeks and was 6 cm at 38 weeks with only minor contractions. He was born at 38 weeks after they induced by breaking my water. It's hard to say - it could be fast, it might not be. Now with my third, I was dilated 1 cm at 33 weeks - and while they don't think labor is inevitable, they also don't expect me to go past 38 weeks since both my boys were born around that time.

That's great, you're almost 1/2 way there LOL I was at a 2cm for awhile, I remember the dr saying you can be dialated and effaced for quite awhile sometimes, the baby will come when it's ready :)

OMG... how exciting!!! Congrats!

I've got nothing to say to help... my dr. never told me where I was at with my ds... just developed a bad headache during bed rest and my blood pressure was staying high... went in for a stress test and my water broke during the test...:p Then 18.5 hours later... baby was born.

Wow - that's awesome! I was induced w/ my first 2 at 38 weeks, but Sadie came on her own at 38 weeks. Best of luck!

I had no contractions that I could feel at 37 weeks. I had a placenta aburption that sent me to the hospital, I was at 3cm and when they checked me 2 hours later I was at nearly 4. I got released to bedrest for 1.5 weeks went to my ob appt and with still feeling no contractions, I was at 5cm. I went into labor that night, but I didn't feel my first contaction until an hour after my water broke. We left for the hospital as soon as that first one hit and by the time I got there I was at 8cm. So, yes, after that long story, it is possible for you to go soon even with feeling no contractions yet. I was having some, but they were so light, I couldn't feel them. Most like that's what you are having.

Oh wow!! I can't believe she'll be here so soon!!

With Claire, I was 37 weeks 2 days and found that I was between 3-4 cm dilated (can't remember the effacement) and I had her 2 days after that. :)

Yay! exciting stuff L!

It really could go either way - some people stroll around for days if not weeks with numbers like that and some people wouldn't make it through dinner. ha!

Didn't I tell you like 2 weeks ago you needed to be ready??? :p

We know it's a gurl, but you can guess date and weight if you like. :)

Last Tuesday, I was 2 cm and 50% effaced. Today, I'm 3 cm and 75% effaced. Does that mean it will take another week to get to 4... or everything will speed up from here on out?!

Oooh, the not knowing just kills me.
