Hello! I'm brand new to this site, but I've already bought a handful of kits and I laid awake in bed last night, thinking about all the pretty stuff I saw here!! I've been wanting to dive into digital scrapbooking for a long time now. I'm curious...how do you store all these papers and elements and whatnot? Do you all have huge external hard drives, or what? I'm nearly out of disk space as it is, with all the pictures I take of my kids! Also, is Photoshop the program of choice? I have Photoshop, but I don't know how to do anything with it besides open the program. Ha! Any tutorials out there for a newbie? And do you actually print out your layouts at some point, or just stare dreamily at them on your monitor?? :-D
About me - I'm a mom of 5 in Colorado. I have a daughter in high school, a set of boy/girl twins in 1st grade, and another set of girl twins who are preschool age.
Just diving right in, I guess! Nice to meetcha!

Oh! One more question. I purchased a kit, and the download link had 2 zip files - one ended in ep.zip and one ended in pp.zip. And one was twice as big. What's the difference? (I downloaded the bigger one!)
Welcome! I use ACDSee to organize all my materials, and yes, I have nice big EHDs...I love the stuff here too much I guess. The downloads you got - the .ep is elements and the .pp is papers. That's usually the standard here. You might also see a .ap which is usually an alpha.
As for the Photoshop tutorials, there are several good tutorials around the Internet if you google Photoshop digital scrapbooking tutorials.
Have fun! I'm always learning something new too!

you need to download them both! ep means "embellishment pack", pp means "paper pack". It's broken down into multiple files to make them smaller for downloading!
welcome!! I'm pretty new to this site, but I've been digi scrapping for almost ONE full year now! I'm so hooked!! and I have about 100 layouts to show for it (YEAH!!) In my digi days I would get about 10 LOs done a year!

Haha - I figured that out right now. I was looking at my pretty new stuff, going, "Uhhhh...where are the papers?" Duhhh! Good think I kept those download links!

Hi!! Welcome to SSD!!!
I store all my files an personal server since I use both a Mac in my studio and a PC laptop if I want to scrap where my kiddo is.... and I use Photoshop Elements.
Here is a great thread if you are interested in how one of our power scrapers organizes her files... https://www.sweetshoppecommunity.com/forum/showthread.php?t=11537

Hi lala -- what's your real first name, by the way? :)
Yes, I think most of us have big EHDs (hmm, why does that sound naughty when I say it like that)? I just went up to a 1 TB EHD to back up all my photos, kits and everything else!

Welcome to SSD. You are gonna love it here. I back all my stuff up on 2 EHD's. I hope to purchase a 3rd one just for my photos soon. I print my LO's out in 8x8 format and store them in traditional 8x8 scrapbooks. I usually print at scrapbookpictures.com (http://www.scrapbookpictures.com/)but just heard of a new one called scrappingsimply.com (http://www.scrappingsimply.com/)that everyone gives good reviews of.

It's Laura - but people call me LaLa a lot anyway, especially online. Either one is fine!
