Well yeah our Robotics competition is on the 31st and we have a TON to do between now and the 29th...so yeah that is enough excitement in itself...however ....

My sister picked us up one whiz banger of a deal on carpet ... they drove it in to us (we live an hour away) and dropped it off at 10:30....at 10am Lowes called and said they could be out around 12 to "detail" (aka measure for carpet and pad) ... so they came out and did that. ...so...

we got the carpet for the whole upstairs (3 bedrooms, hallway and stairs) for $250 (less than one room's cost) and just have to pay for $139 for install....plus the pad and then I think it is 43 cents a square foot for them to rip up the old, haul away, and move our furniture..........!!!!!!!

Now my dh is talking that if we are going to do that...we might as well paint Brian's room (he has lego bricks painted on the wall)....and has a LEGO bunk bed (upper bunk...underneath was his tv and chair)

....and build Brian a new bed (drawers underneath his bed)...and if he is making ONE new bed dealy...why not make one for the other son too?

Goodness this is going to be amazing!!!

Our carpet upstairs is matted down gold shag that probably was put in the year the house was built...we're the 4th owners I think and we've lived here 17 years...so guessing it is like a 30 year old house....our new carpet is a tan berber carpet with a long loop (terminology?) with some brown and black in it...pretty neutral.

Sharon, is your robotics competition at WSU? My son is doing one that day and that's where it is.

That lego bed is way cool!

It's at Ft. Smith University in the Stubble Center....we drive to Ft. Smith Arkansas for our competition.

Is this for BEST Robotics? Is that Wichita? If so, I believe there is another homeschool team from our area that competes at Wichita.

That LEGO bed I believe will be up for "grabs" if you want to come get it. ;)

Yes, it's in Wichita. My son refuses to tell me anything but the bare minimum about it. He said that if his team does well in this competition, then the next competition is in Arkansas. And he tells me when to drop him off and pick him up. He's quite adament that parents are not allowed at the competition and that if I try to take a photo, he'll kill me. :) I told him I have all these cute robot kits....

Tell HIM that I am a "mentor" for BEST Robotics Spirit & Sportsmanship ... and I BEG TO DIFFER with him! YOU are allowed and encouraged to participate as a mentor with BEST Robotics! Photographs are actually more than encouraged... they are a necessity for BEST award! I took over 3,000 photos during BEST last year!

WHEN *BOTH* our teams make it to Regionals in December at Ft. Smith (thinking positive here)... YOU and I will HAVE to meet up...and we'll do a swap...I'll take pics of your team and you take pics of my team...hee hee and we'll get snapshots we won't be able to get on our own! hee hee

Actually if his team is competing for BEST award...the MORE people they have supporting the team in the stands...the more chances they can get to earn points towards the BEST award for spirit & sportsmanship....so you could actually HELP his team. ;) Our whole family is on the team...dh (he is mentor for Booth), myself, my oldest ds (20), and both my teenaged sons.

His team is up against a very competitive team in that Wichita hub... Wichita Homeschool ... have they ever competed in Wichita before?

FYI on the pictures...BOTH the FIRST Robotics high school team that my oldest was on really appreciated me taking pictures...I gave all the kids on the team a CD with the photos on it that I took. ...and this homeschool team that we are on now where we compete in BEST and FIRST... I provide the kids with a CD or 2 with all the pictures I took that year! The kids really appreciate it!

Yeah it was that way when my oldest was in public school and was on the FIRST Robotics Team....prior to his senior year he told me he didn't want me to take pics and such...what he didn't realize was the "benefits" of having a mom involved taking pictures (in other words...brownies sent for 'work days', hot dogs, chili, etc. for everyone)... lol Senior year I got involved taking pics and the whole team reaped the benefits. lol
