Eastwick got canceled..didn't I tell you that would happen?? :thumbdown:

I sat down to watch it this morning thinking my trusty DVR had recorded it and no Eastwick..I go online to see if there just wasn't a new episode this week and find the news that there will be no more. just like that..I think from now on I'm just going to wait to start new series when they come out on DVD that way I won't get interested in something only to have it canceled 5 episodes in. :cursing:

oh and this article says that Castle will probably not be renewed next season either. ugh.

I read last night that they were airing all the completed episodes of Eastwick (total of 13). Hmmm.

As for Castle, I can't believe they'd decide on next season so soon after ordering a full season of the show! That's crazy!!

I wonder how much DVR recordings factor into the ratings these days..I mean we don't watch anything when it airs anymore..we record it and watch it later. I just wonder if there is a way for networks to analyze DVR viewings in addition to live viewings kwim?

I'm bummed about Eastwick. I really liked it. Like Leila, I heard they were going to finish out the season.

I can't imagine they'd drop it just like that without any closure for the viewers...as least I'd HOPE they wouldn't do that... I'm so bummed :(

DVR recordings do get factored into ratings. I looked it up a few months ago.

I can't believe that they are going to do away with Castle!! I know soooo many people that watch that! That's one of the only shows that DH and I look forward to watching together. :thumbdown:

That does suck... I looked at other channels in the link posted by Nikki... ugh, there are other shows that I watch... yet then there are some that aren't very well written and they get a chance to stay??? Maybe another station or a cable station will pick them up??

They factor them in but Nielsen only factors in what they call commercials plus three which is basically any commercials watched for shows that are watched on a DVR within three days of the original air date. So if you're someone who doesn't watch commercials (I don't and haven't since I got my first TiVo back in 2001 :D), then they don't really care whether you're watching the show or not.

It's kind of a stupid system but until they can figure out a better system for making money, it's what they're going to hold on to. Apparently Nielsen just gave the networks a big boost because they announced according to their numbers, 50% of DVR owners still watch commercials. :blink:

wow that's surprising...that's the best thing about DVRs and TIVO. no commercials lol

Oh no, they do that. I got really hooked on a show several years ago called "The Others". After about 6 episodes it just disappeared. Same with "God, The Devil and Bob". Although that one went to DVD and I was able to purchase the rest of the episodes.

They need to have better pre-screenings for new shows because I hate it when things are ripped away from me like that.

I really like Castle and the forgotten, but mostly for the hot guycandy. I think both suffer from bland supporting casts.
