there's this intersection that I drive through several times a day.. and either something needs to change, or I'm attaching rocket launchers to my car and blasting all the idiots into oblivion.. I think the city would prefer I did not do that :p .. It's one of those intersections where there's a turn only lane, and they get the green arrow you know.. but then instead of turning to a red arrow, it turns ot a regular green light and there's a sign that says "yield on green".. except NO ONE yields on green.. they just try to drive through you. I almost got hit by two cars just trying to make it through the intersection today.. (the first one, I honked at and decided not to let hit me, so the second person decided to get right on the 1st persons ass and drive right through too.. I should have plowed through her :p ).. anyway........ I DOUBT they'll actually do anything.. it's a pretty busy road on THAT side, and the turn is onto a one way street (also really busy) that's full of businesses banks etc etc.. there are no homes on that road- my side of the intersection, is densely populate.. tons of plop plop apartment buildings.. ie.. less important to the city :p .. but I just know someone is going to get seriously hurt one day .. the people on my side of the intersection have basically just learned to be the ones yielding even though we have the right of way.. but today just peeved me off.. there have been many of these incidents, and many times I can't even get through the intersection cause of these buttheads and their DIRE need to get to burger king. you'd think there was a famine. so who do I talk to? police? city hall? mayor.. lol?

Your description of the intersection confuses me. Can you draw it up and post the image?
Is it a county road, state road, or other? That will help you find out who you need to call. It sounds like they need to turn the green arrow straight to red, instead of a green yield.

I getcha. When I was about 17 my ex boyfriends '68 camero got smooshed in because some old lady didn't "yeild on green". /facepalm

I have no idea who to file a complaint to. I suppose I would contact the local police department and ask them who I need to talk to.

hmm good question... one way would be to contact the city representative for that section, if you know who that is... however if he is as "helpful" as mine, that will go no where... So I guess, if it were me, I'd contact either the police or the department of transportation... good luck! Failure to yield and not using the blinker are my top pet peeves while driving... I totally get your frustration!

I live in a city :p lol.. I dunno it's a main road, it has a route # and a name, hold on.. drawing you a super quick diagram.. but anyway, that main road ENDS at that intersection.. like the side where my head is (is just a plain ole city street), and then when I cross through the intersection I'm on that main road.. did that make sense?

I hear you ,sister! I totalled my hubby's car last May at an identical intersection. My kiddo and I were going straight (40mph), an old lady failed to yield as she made her left turn in front of me, and I t-boned her. Snapped her front axle in half, tires and metal flying, and completely smushed in the front of hubby's beloved Audi. She and I walked away with minor injuries, my son was totally unbruised, but both cars went straight to the junkyard.

I've talked with the police, because this intersection has a similar accident at least once a month. They told me that they are keeping track of the accidents and submitting their tallies to the city. But nothing has happened to change it.

I'd start with the local police and see if this is an intersection they are already observing. Go get 'em, La!!

I don't know if this helps, but last some folks complained about that same situation, except they were running the red light :cursing: So policemen were stationed there for a couple of weeks giving out tickets. Things got a lot better after that!! Call everyone... sometimes the squeaky wheel theory works! I would start with the police, city council and the mayors office. Here we can also contact one of the local television stations and they will camp out and get footage... that makes things happen fast! And our mayor is on talk radio once a month, he takes all kinds of issues on those shows, too.

Good luck!!

well....I know that around here if we report it to the police in that city (not the 9-11 number), that they will send a policeman out to watch for and give tickets...but that only happens for part of a day...each time you call....maybe tell them they are missing some "money" by not patrolling it?? ;)

call your local police department with the names of the streets involved and request there be an officer stationed there to try to get it under control. Also try transportation and see if they can change the intersection so that its less dangerous by either adding a light OR changing how the light works. I know how frustrating it is because we have ALOT of intersections just like it here where I live and I know everytime we leave the house we will almost get hit at least once.

I totally hear you. My car got totaled when I was 18 in this exact situation. My dad called the city engineer. They are the ones that zone the streets etc.

There should be a department within the city to handle traffic/roads/etc. I would call the police, and call the city and make some complaints.

Nice diagram btw :)

ugh.
i'm so the crabby old lady when it comes to this stuff. like some others that have posted, i got in a really bad accident a few years ago, so am now SUPER crazy about idiot drivers.

my son's bus stop is on a street that is a 4 way intersection, but there are only stop signs on the east/west sides....people going north/south have no stop sign. wrap your brain around that one...A KID'S BUS STOP!

anyways. i've called twice...b'ed about people flying by. said they'd send someone out. no one has come- i'm there every day.

who do you go to if the police station won't listen? i wonder sometimes if it will take a child being hit by a speeding car for them to listen.

:(

Try a town or city council, or call around to different government agencies in your area. 2 more stop signs might run them a few hundred dollars, it's not that big a deal to add them in.
