We are getting 3 of these things for Christmas. My two oldest are getting one and since I bought dh a netbook this morning (BestBuy for $229), he bought me an iPod touch and dock/speakers.

How hard is it to connect these to our wifi? I have pretty good security on the wifi. For example, the kids can't connect to the wifi from their old DS or the PS2, but we can from the Wii. So mostly, it has to be fairly new to get on the wifi here at home. Do you think we'll have issues using the Touch?

I'm freaking a bit because the wifi was installed on our desktop, which has since kicked the bucket. I have no idea how to change the password, etc., so thankfully I remember the current password.

Anyway, just wondering how much it's going to take to get these things up and going. I don't want Christmas to be stressful, and if I need to change something, I need to start thinking about it now.

Kim, we found it very easy to connect to WiFi with both DH's Touch and my phone. There's a section in the settings to set up a WiFi connection with it, just as you would a laptop. The Touch will find the network for you, then you just enter the information it asks for and you're good to go. I'd suggest that you charge and set up all the iPods before Christmas just in case you have issues, but you really shouldn't. It's very easy to do.

I have an iPhone but it should be the same. My dad has pretty tight security on his wireless and it was a bit tricky to get it connected. I think I had to manually add it rather than just letting it find it so I could choose the type of security it had.

In the window where you choose the wireless network you want, I just chose Other and was able to put in the name of the network and the security type and password. It worked fine once I'd done that.

Here's a screenshot from my phone (please excuse the sophomoric network title there-I have college boys as neighbors.):

Anyway, it'll either automatically detect or as Lynette said, you can enter the information manually by selecting Other from that screen.

I should say that the problem I had was it would auto detect the network but wouldn't connect to it even though the password was correct. Setting it up manually fixed the problem. But my dad is a software engineer so it he probably has some wacky set up. :D

OK. That relieves my worries. I'm excited about getting one!
