View Full Version : Question about hidden journalling
I've seen quite a bit of hidden journalling on layouts and I've always been curious about it because I want to be able to read my journalling when I print my pages but I like how others have hiddent some text.
So for those of you that hide some of the text, do you print it on the back of your page once you've printed, or how do you keep the journalling so that you can read it later?

I will ocassionally hide parts of it, but only parts that I know I will be able to plug in later while reading without needing it to be there. I have always wondered about that where its not able to read at all.

I don't do it. I love how it looks on other people's pages, but like you, I really need to be able to read my journaling :D

I've made it look like hidden journaling by letting prepositions and articles disappear under things but then the sentance picks back up where the journaling is visible again. Sometimes I'll leave bits of the sentance hidden but generally they are easy to guess verbs and nouns.

Something like this?

I personally just liked the way the smear looked over the text. This isn't personal journaling either, it's just song lyrics, which I know anyways, and it's not necessary to read all the lyrics for the effect I wanted. lol, so basically I just thought it looked cool...
Sometimes if journaling is too personal, I save my full size jpg, then when I shrink it down to post I'll blur it out, or lighten it so it's too hard to read. That's only for something I don't want to share.
If my elements happen to lap overtop of some words, I just make sure it's easily filled in with your mind as your reading, or if it's a lot of text that says the same thing a few times just different wording throughout, I don't mind some stuff overlapping it.

I've even added words that would be hidden so that the real part of the sentence is shown... but like most, I hide what is something that I'll be able to guess later.

The blue font is song lyrics so it's not personal journaling and I don't have to guess at it, KWIM? The little bit of journaling I have sorta hidden under elements but not enough that you can't figure out what it is. I normally make sure I can read any personal journaling... things like lyrics and poems and stuff like that then I'm more likely to hide some of it.

I'm like Heather. If I know what's hidden it's not a big deal to me. I like it to look "real." I would journal on the bg paper if I were writing in real life and then throw stuff on top of it if I wanted to.
Okay, here's the layout I saw that inspired the question:

I will sometimes hide just a couple words here or there too, but for some layouts I've seen, a lot more is hidden.

Personally for me, I don't share my journaling online often. Sometimes it's hidden, sometimes I just make it uber tiny, lol Mostly it's the therapy of writing it that I am wanting. Not necessarily a memory to remember later ya know?

I'm working on a page now, and I've reduced the opacity of the journalling, I don't want to share it with everyone if I do upload it. It's about the things I've been through in the past year, it feels good to type it and get it all out. But then again, it's not a page I would print out either so I don't have to worry about reading what it says once it's finished.

A lot of times the journaling i do is hidden all together-sometimes I just don't wanna put it all out there-a lot of the time really.

i like the look of it but i so often draw a blank when it comes to good journaling that most of my pages don't have any, lol.
