after a very rough first few nights I'm proud to say our new pup slept from 9:30 until 4:30 this morning and he only woke up I think b/c I had to get up and go check on Ella who was looking for her pacifier lol. I took him out and he went right back to sleep and slept til 6:30! He has totally accepted his crate and is going in/out on his own now. I only close the door when I don't want him underfoot or he's taking a very long nap or at night. He sleeps a lot which I know is what a puppy does but I also think some of his basset genes are kicking in there lol...

The kids seem to just tolerate him right now. Ella's really not crazy about him b/c he tries to nip her feet. Avery likes to play with him until the point when he gets nipped by his little puppy teeth and then he's done. But he's quickly becoming a part of the family and I think once he gets out of the playful puppy stage they'll like him much more.

A suggestion on the nipping, if I may? Yes he is a puppy, and yes they chew on everything, and yes it's difficult, but try and nip it in the bud (bad pun :p) if you can. If you notice him nipping at the kids, give them a chew toy to give to him. Have them say "no", and then give him the chew toy. It will help establish that even though they are little, they are still above him in the pack order.

I know! He is constantly tripping on them and he's not quite figured out yet that they are attached to him..they sneak up on him sometimes and then he spends a few minutes trying to attack them..it's hilarious.

OH EM GEE Nikki! He could not be any cuter! Oh man...they are so fun when they are pups and I just love those ears. Has he tripped on them yet? Or do they get wet in his water bowl? If not, it's coming.....ha ha ha
