I don't feel like posting on my fb about the bunny's boy nuggets :p lol so hopefully someone here has some input.
Originally- I thought we'd be fine, he seemed like a really docile sweet bunny. But now that he's had antibiotics for a few days I'm realizing that he was just really sick and lethargic. He def is exhibiting some tell tale boy issues-- aggro cranky stuff (he IS a bunny so its not a big deal lol.. but you know). Headbutting me @ med-time.. throwing a lil bunny temper tantrum and biting stuff when during med-time.. he bit the CAT.. pee stuff.. etc stuff like that. My concern is that he's already 1+ yrs old (I believe his bday was in july actually).. So are these behaviors already pretty ingrained in him?? will getting him fixed really help at this point? Like I said it's not the end of the world if he has his little boy nuggets to me- he's not going to hurt anyone, he's just.....moody.

hahaha a moddy rabbit. and i bet he's not telling you why he's moody, right? ;)

i'm not a nugget expert, but i'd call your vet and ask. the only thing i would be concerned with is that he gets more moody by chopping off his bits.

and you know - i never knew you could get a bunny nutered.

You are never too old to get the nuggets cut off.

If only it were so easy to deal with human males this way.

Ok, my vet tech friend responded as follows:
"I would say being unneutered def. contributes to ATTITUDE, will it help it can't hurt to. neuter will adjust his testoseroness (LMAO) I had a bunny about 10 years ago and when he reached maturity he began to spray, stop his back feet and bite, ! I would neuter him for sure and hope he changes his tune a bit. have her keep in mind rabbits in general are not fun to anesthetize and can have issues during sometimes."

So definitely talk to your vet about. See what thier view is and whether they are comfortable anesthetizing bunnies and whether the issues you are having are worth any risks. Good luck!

OMG, what did the cat do!!!!! LOL!!!!!!

thankfully i was RIGHT there or the cat would have destroyed him haha.. he was pretty horrified and his fur stood up and he was starting to lift his front legs into "hold and bite" position.. they're still trying to establish the pecking order btwn the two of them.. but uh.. I'm not going to let kitty eat bunny :p lol

I don't have any input about neutering a bunny or not... but I do know that bunnies have tempers anyway! My bunny used to bang his feet really hard on the bottom of the cage if I wasn't paying attention to him when he wanted me to! lol!

lol bratty bunny...clyde tends to "throw" things with his mouth to get attention.. or grab his cage door again with his teeth and shake it.. he's got a major tuuuuuuuuuude.

I didn't read the other posts, so I hope I'm not repeating stuff.

But my mom's bunny Snoodles (yes, she named her bunny Snoodles *gag*) was super sweet and chill at first but soon became a typical boy bunny. He was aggressive, mean, etc. She got him fixed and it helped A LOT, but the doc said she waited too long and some of the bad behavior was ingrained in him.

So, get it done asap. It'll be a lot better for you all.

This thread is crackin' me up! I'm seriously in my office right now LOL'ing. Thankfully, I'm the only one in here at the moment, or I'm sure I'd be getting some strange looks!

BTW, La, can we please see pics if the humping of the cat happens again?? I just need to see that for myself! :p

I actually have a 9 yr old boy bunny who still has his nuggets...and he's not at all aggressive...but he had a brother who died some years ago that was way too aggressive. So yeah, it just depends on the bunny. I think with him being just a year old he should mellow out quite a bit.

Be forewarned though as a previous poster said, bunnies really don't handle anesthesia well at all usually due to low liver function. They can test him for that prior to surgery. My boys daddy rabbit died right after being neutered for this very reason.

This thread is hilarious! I've never had a bunny so I always pictured them as little cuddly fluff balls with next to no personality. Bunnies humping cats? Bunnies being moody without attention? It's 8:30am and I've already laughed out loud. This is going to be a good day!

Hope everything works out with your bunny La. :)
