We are beginning to plan a vacation in July and want to head to Canada (it has to be cooler than Las Vegas in July, ). We are planning to drive there, so Ontario is best for us coming from Ohio, and in particular the southern portion of Ontario. I've been to Toronto a number of times, but my husband has never been outside the States. The timeshare place my mother is gifting us has several options for places to stay. We do want to plan a day in Toronto itself. I'm trying to convince hubby to also visit Montreal, but he can't handle long drives (back issues) and we don't want to pay for an overnight stay somewhere other than our timeshare.
Here are the places we can consider: Calabogie, Shanty Bay, Collingwood, Haliburton, Brechin or Thornbury.
What are your opinions of those places? Which would be the best place to "get away from it all" but still not feel cut off completely? Are there any places or events not to miss in that area during that time of the year?
Thanks in advance for any advice!!
