I lost my ehd again and didnt realize my desktop that i used for mozy was not working and I have lost all my sweet shoppe and other kits that I have bought. I dont know what I am going to do. I am giving up on ehd's.
:( i've had that happen to me too - it totally stinks! did you lose any pictures? i lost of bunch of pics and that made me even sadder than the kits :( and i don't know what the best answer it ... i now have two EHDs and i use time capsule (i'm on a mac) as for daily backup ... i was using mozy but couldn't get it to work correctly so i switched to time capsule ...

Oh no. :( I'm sorry Pam. :(
I use an EHD and backup to DVD's periodically. That reminds me that I need to do that again as I've added a lot to my stash since I last backed up.

Sorry Pam, that's rough.
I'm a 3 EHD kinda girl. 1 stays at work and is backed up once a month. I recently cleared off my 500GB one and reformatted it, and then reloaded my stuff on it. And then I have a third smaller one (my original) that is for photos only. Photos are all on everything else as well, that one was just too small to keep any scrap stuff on it as well.

I'm so sorry! I would cry too. :( I have all my pictures backed-up in a few places and most of my layouts, but not really my kits. And it's probably going to hurt me one of these days.
My bro says getting an internal harddrive with an external enclosure is the best thing. That's what I have. And actually, I had to replace the enclosure not too long ago, but the harddrive was just fine.
I'm so so sorry!

That happened to me and like Dana said I was more devastated about my pictures than the kits and layouts I lost...I did find some software that helped me recover most of my pictures...At the time that was what I was most worried about...When I get home I'll come back and post the name of the software...

I'm sorry! I don't know what the best answer is. I've lost too many internal HDs to trust those, either. I have photos everyplace--2 computers, DVD, and Mozy. The scrapping stuff is on my laptop, then backed up to EHD and Mozy.

Oh that is terrible!! That is one reason I back-up to DVD once a month!

I hope you are able to recover your stuff. This sucks!!! I know my pictures are on my computer, backed up in several locations (even out of our house) and DH backs up my EHD once a week to his computer downstairs.....I think I may buy a bigger EHD just to have another one for backup.....

oh Pam, I'm SO SORRY. It happened to a good friend of mine almost a year ago and she really lost her mojo for scrapping. I'm so sorry.
I use a NAS (Network area storage) device called Ready Nas Duo. I have two 1TB HDs in it; one is for active storage, the other is a mirror copy to protect from HD failure on the first. We also periodically back-up to disk, but I admit that I haven't done it in at least 6 months.
I've been thinking that any catastrophic event at our house would result in EVERYTHING being lost, so I'm thinking of storing copies on CD at my parent's house in Mississippi. (pictures and finished LOs, that is).
Good luck, hang in there. I wish there was something we could do to help.

I almost don't dare say this but I've never had an EHD fail. I must be an enigma! LOL But I'm backing mine up as we speak, just cause I said that out loud!

No, you're not alone Amy. Mine small original one is now 4 years old, and was used every single day for at least 3 of those years. And it's still kicking!
I keep my biggest drive, and my smallest drive at work. If anything catastrophic were to happen at home, I'd have no issues since I have everything at work as well (and vice versa if something were to happen to my office).

Oh! Been there just did that and it totally bites! I lost all my sweet shoppe kits and all others, some pics, and 40 scrap pages that I had not had a chance to back up or print. I wanted to just quit scrapping right then and there and it took me a few months to build up the enthusiasm to start again! Totally feelin' your pain!!
