I am finishing up a baby quilt for a friend and wanted to put some sort of a quote or something on the label. They belong to the LDS church and I wanted something that would be meaningful to them. I was going to put some sort of a biblical quote about children but, honestly, I don't know if that would be proper or not. Is there a quote from the book of Mormon that anyone knows about that I could use that would be appropriate and meaningful? Does this make sense at all?

I'm LDS! the LDS faith uses the King James Version of the bible, so any quotes from there would be approriate. Also, here is a great site with quotes that are from LDS leaders, etc. on children

Feel free to PM me if you have any questions about quotes or anything.

That is such a thoughtful idea! My thoughts went toward the primary music.
I am a Child of God (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jW5bKEc8hQg) is a song that many LDS kids know by the age of 2 or 3. That was my first thought.
Another good one is I'm Trying to Be Like Jesus (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BY-tt7cf7CA&feature=related)

oh, I think "I am a Child of God" would be perfect for a baby quilt! It's short, to the point, and they will think of the song every time! How thoughtful of you!

Oh, I LOVE that!!! I can certainly fit that on the label! Do you think just "I am a child of God" or the entire first verse to the "parents kind and dear" part?

I got it - I went ahead and put the whole first little verse (4 short lines) on it. Thanks sooooo much for this. I'm assuming they will certainly know the song right?

I am LDS and agree that I Am A Child of God is a perfect song to use.

I couldn't decide, so that's why I gave you the link with the lyrics. I think the whole first verse is perfect! :) Also, I am 99.9% sure that they know that song, and probably by heart.

Here is the label... http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2682/4395085662_2ace896dd7_m.jpg
The colors match the quilt. I used an old kit by Zoe Pearn, "Winter Wishes". It's a little hard to see because I created it 3"x4".
Thank you so much for the ideas!!!

that's gorgeous and I am sure they will love it. I am a Child of God is one of the first songs LDS children learn, and is so perfect and precious!

Awe! That's perfect! I thought of this when we were singing I am a Child of God in nursery today with the kids age 18months-3years. :)

Update: I gave the quilt to DD's teacher and got a call from his wife tonight. She was THRILLED with the quilt and was so touched by the label! She wondered where I got it and I told her "my scrapbooking friends". She told me her little ones sing it all the time. So, thank you again!!! Quilting win.

Oh I am LDS too! The quilt turned out beautiful!!
Oh - I'm sorry I missed this thread earlier! I'm LDS too. And, I have to say if one of my non-LDS friends went to the trouble to find out something to put on a quilt that would be meaningful to me in my faith, I would be completely floored and touched! The quilt turned out beautiful, and I agree that I Am A Child of God was the PERFECT choice. Beautiful!
Oh - and BTW . . .
Jen, where in Georgia are you? My sis lives in Lilburn.
And, Megan, my parents served in the Manchester New Hampshire mission a few years ago!
What a small world! :)

Yay! I'm so glad she liked it! Not that there was any chance that she wouldn't with it being that cute. :) And I just noticed that you changed the background paper to polka-dots from the stripes and I love it even more!
Lydia, that's so cool! We just moved here last summer, and I love it here! :)

I missed this earlier too. I am also LDS, and I agree with Lydia that you caring enough to go to the trouble of finding a meaningful LDS quote would completley impress me. The quilt is darling, and the tag is so sweet. Great job!

Thanks everyone. Megan, yes, I changed the background to polka dots. When I originally printed out the test label, the blue color wasn't really as blue as it looked on the screen, it had a greenish tint to it and didn't match the fabric. I went back and colorized the blue scalloped trim at the bottom to match the quilt and then the polka dot paper was easier to tint to the right color moreso than the stripe was.
