I use to be like that with coke. I'm proud to say that I'm down to one a day (most of the time). :)

Kristin - I have the same problem with Pepsi! But I don't drink coffee and I need the pick-up first thing in the day!! I wish I had a solution for you. But I do know that the more of it you drink, the more thirsty you are and the more you want it. If you can start replacing some with a good glass of ice water you'll start craving the water more.

I drink nothing but water, but the hubster and daughter are addicted to Mt. Dew.

I never used to have the problem.. darcy's pop of choice is ddp and so I just started drinking it and couldn't stop! I WISH we had somewhere here with good crushed ice. I LOVE ice! I have even looked up the price of the ice machine's that make ice apparently like sonic's (I've actually never had sonic but i've heard lots about their ice. haha)

Diet pepsi here, it's my one true addiction. I regularly drink it for breakfast. I need the caffeine sure, but I just really love it! I prefer cans to bottles.

A few months ago I decided I was going to give up soda completely....omg...it wasn't pretty (maybe even worse then when I quit smoking). My new goal is to get to a point where I only have one a day...but I definitely need at least that one. I'm a coffee addict also so doubly not good.

Me too (although I did have one before 9 a.m. this morning, but anyway...)! :p DH and I have decided though that we're drinking water whenever we go out to eat. The price of three sodas really does add up!

I always get water when we go out..with lemon :)

I refuse to pay 2.99 for a sweet tea or diet coke lol..insane!

mcdonalds diet coke. mmmmmm

YES! McDonald's should only exist for their Diet Coke. Everything else they sell is questionable.

My day hasn't begun until I have a Diet Coke.

I am a 300# cola addict...coke being my drug of choice, but I'll stoop to drinking a Pepsi now and then when I couldn't get a Coke. Soda is seriously one of the reasons why I've gained so much weight since I've been married.

It's seriously an addiction..and I'm going through withdrawals at the moment. I gave up sodas about two years ago and stayed off for a little while..and it was good. Then I said..I'll have one just when we go out..or just when we pick up fast food..which became one a day to drinking back up to the amount again. I gained more weight..combined with bad food choices, Coke has been horrible to my body.

As we're moving to a more natural whole food diet, I've been reading up on just how bad sodas are - between the High Fructose Corn Syrup, chemicals and the carbonation, sodas are just evil. I gave up again on Ash Wednesday, and I'm still struggling. It's seriously like an addiction for me. I have some days when all I think of is how I can get a coke w/o anyone finding out...so NOT the purpose of a Lenten sacrifice. It's just bad. But it's getting better each day..though still a struggle.

*sigh*. It's tough. I'm praying that with the ending of Lent...that I'm clean & sober enough to not go back. I need a two week chip on Wednesday to make me feel like I've accomplished something, because there are still times when the craving is really, really bad.

Now..I bet you didn't mean for this to get all serious on y'all or anything LOL

Darcy, my DH gave up soda for Lent when we were in college and it has made such a HUGE difference in his eating habits overall. That was probably 5 or 6 years ago and how he eats now compared to then is like night and day. I don't think I ever even saw him drink water when we first met but that's mostly all he drinks now. It's tough to give up but oh so worth it in the end, really.

I drink a lot of water, but I have to have my diet dr. pepper at least once a day. I love that stuff! I try to keep it limited to one though.

I have the same problem! My addiction is Coke. It is my breakfast every morning. Horrible, I know. I do limit myself to one a day UNLESS it is one of THOSE days.....then I have two! :p My hubby gives me a hard time and calls me a "coke addict". We laugh about it but in public when he says it we get some strange looks! LOL

I ♥ Diet Cherry Pepsi. but try to only drink it a couple times a week....there are days when I MUST have it though...it's either that or drive into town to get a nice, icey, caramel frappuccino...yummmy... I'm not sure which is worse!

Um..dt. mt. dew - I am beyond addicted..like if we run out there is nothing else to do but go get some right then. But I don't usually run out b/c I'm always aware of how much I have lol...that's an addict huh...

I think it's so funny to hear it called "pop" or "soda" though...around here it's all "coke"...the question is "what kind of coke do you want" lol

I'm so with ya on this one -- definitely a Southern thing. We had this major debate about it with a roommate of mine in college who was from Michigan. Hehe!

Yeah, I'm pretty addicted myself -- Diet Dr. Pepper (although I try to buy decaf), Cherry Coke One (ooooh, mmmmmm). :)

Diet Pepsi is my addiction. I stop by to get one ever day before I get to work at 8:30. I call it my coffee substitute since I don't like coffee. :p

My BIL has a running bet with his coworker (it helped him cure his addiction);

Whoever drinks a soda first has to pay the other $100. They did it for six months and now the bet is upped to $250. "So how bad do you want that coke?" is what he asks himself now. He drinks water, tea or milk now and says he feels so much better.

diet vanilla pepsi is my drug of choice. Sadly it's becoming harder to find. I first fell in love with diet vanilla coke, but then they stopped making it. Then I switched to diet vanilla pepsi in the 2 liter bottles, then they stopped making that. So I switched to buying the cans. Now it's hard to even find the cans any more in my area. I think that is all suppose to mean that I should quit. LOL

I love soda. Love it.

But I'm happy to say I've been pop-free for two months now.

And, I also have to say that when I first read your post title I thought it said you have a poop addiction. LOL

I agree with this statement and what Darcy said. I have been off Diet DP for 2 weeks now and am finally getting over the headaches. It was rough going for awhile, but I think it will be worth it. I used to have atleast 2 or 3 a day, so I know what y'all mean. There is so much bad stuff in it and we are trying to live healthier in our family, so I have to set the "good example". Sucks, huh!

I have 3 addictions... coke, mt dew and dr pepper.

However for Lent I gave up soda of all kinds. UGH!
I can't wait for Easter to get here...first thing I'm having is a soda. I know totally defeats the purpose of giving something up but at least I give it up for Lent.

Diet Dr Pepper is the only diet soda I can drink. To me it doesn't really taste that different from the regular stuff.

I got so used to diet years ago when I was doing low-carb that I cannot drink a regular coke anymore..they taste too syrupy and sweet. My mom and I went throught the drive-through at mcD's today and ordered two Fudge Brownies and 2 diet cokes lol..

Same here. I used to drink 2 cans of coke, or a 500ml bottle of coke every day. Since I went on a diet I switched to diet coke, ad have maybe 1 can a week, I try and stick to water now.

My kids drank Mountain Dew alot like a year or so ago. Until I read to them about the ingredient brominated vegetable oil. I think just the thought of drinking vegetable oil turned them off but its supposedly really bad for you. It is used in citrus drinks to keep it from seperating I think?

As for other sodas well my weakness is Pepsi. It is really bad for me though. My kidneys cannot handle it. I can drink a bottle and I will start having serious pains/spasms. I do not drink it often. Usually only a bottle a week or so. Mostly when I go grocery shopping.

Now if I could kick my addiction to sweet tea I would be ok but I just cant. I can give up just about anything else but the thought of not having iced tea seriously freaks me out!!

Oh and crushed ice is like crack!! I love Sonic's but I dont have one close enough to go to often but the gas station down the road has crushed ice and my husband fills a 64 ounce cup three or four times a week there for me. I munch on it while watching tv. Also supposed to be really bad for you but I have been doing it for so long and I look at it as if I am drinking water LOL.

I was addicted to Diet Coke until I got pg last year.

I gave it up for the most part during my pg and completely while I was BFing. After such a long time without, it tastes funny to me now, and I am so proud to say we never have pop in the house anymore unless we buy a 2 liter of Sprite for Tyler when he is with us. All we drink is Crystal Light Fruit Punch, milk, and water, and if I'm out at a restaurant, I drink lemonade.

Seriously, I never thought I'd be popfree. My mom has been addicted to Tab since the late 70s, and between the four of us growing up, we each had our own pop that we drank. I used to drink 6-7 cans of Mountain Dew a day in college!

I've been trying to stop drinking so many Dr. Peppers. Over the past couple of months I've worked my way up to two a day and I hate the way it makes me feel. I'm trying to drink more water instead but the tap water here at the new house tastes horrible and I haven't bought a filter yet.

LOL we went to Burger King the other night and DH was actually laughing at the absurdity of the two of us ordering diet sodas with meal deals from there...but neither of us can do regular soda anymore...tastes waaay wrong.

I just realized the other day that I am absolutely addicted to sweet tea. You know, southern sweet tea -- the kind with an abundance of sugar. Mmm! I know the feeling... ;)

I used to drink my fair share of soda until I met DH. He banned soda from his life when he realized what it does to the kidneys. His family has a history of kidney disease and has had to undergo two life-saving kidney transplants. So, I support DH in his endeavors to keep soda out of his diet and we don't ever bring it in the house.

If only I could kick my tea habit...
