Looks like there will only be a 10 contestants, each paired with a different "all-star" each week. Isn't this a bit like Dancing With the Stars? Not sure how I feel about it yet but it would be fun to see past season faves dance again.

What do you guys think?

I think it's there way of trying to be more like both DWTS and AI. I'm not entirely sure I like the idea, but I hope it will even out the distribution of dance styles. It's pretty whacked that some people get their style (or similar) several times a season and some never get their style. Not that any of that matters, I'll watch the show anyway!!

I am still unsure but from what i get is the top 20 will switch partners every week then when they get to the top ten they will do the "all-star" thingy... at least that is what i got from Simon's tweets... haha

There won't be a Top 20 this season, Holly. Nigel's been tweeting that for a couple weeks now. Just a Top 10 and the rotating "All Stars". I suspect it'll make a slightly shorter season too. Not sure I like that idea.

I'm OK with it. The last 2 seasons were completely lame -- I couldn't even tell you who won them. So I'm totally OK with them doing something to shake it up. I love the old-school contestants, so I'll be excited to see them back. Benji with his Lindy Hop, some of the ballroom people, Josh with hip hop, and my favorite, Travis. Ah, Travis, how I love to watch you dance. And choreograph.

I'm kinda digging the idea... LOL He namked the first All Star this morning and it's Twitch... No surprise there though! Can't wait to see the rest. And, he's said there will be under 4 in the finale so, it won't shorten the season much, if any. You figure with 20, we had 2 going home a week and with 10, it'll be one. That's still 8-10 shows for the season. I think with them bringing back former faves, I'll be watching again. I just couldn't get into it last season.

I like it! no more watching a hip-hop/contemporary pair struggle to waltz...the genre is determined by which all-star they're paired with so we know at least once dancer is going to be competent. should help the dancers grow and bring up everybody's performance level! Woo-hoo!

They're both pranks for sure. The All-Stars are former contestants. He did announce that Kathryn from last season would be back though. Not so sure I'm thrilled about that, I didn't care for her.

Yep, you got it right...both of those were pranks. But he did announce Pasha as a ballroom all-star. no more tweets until Tuesday though :(
