To purge that is. I decided to get rid of everything I would never use or I no longer like. I do still have a few kits I probably wont use but I can't seem to get rid of them because they are by some of my favorite designers. I went from having 155 gigabytes used to having 119 gigabytes used. Now I think I am back up to 172 gigabytes free and when I started I had around 136 gigabytes free.

Ahhh I did it last weekend... I couldnt scrap for some reason I wasn't inspired... so I thought to purge my stash... I deleted something like 20 GB and after that I did some scrapping... I guess looking to all of my stuff just gave me inspiration :)

I did that over spring break! It meant I didn't scrap as much and didn't hit my March target but it felt wonderful! And I'm scrapping faster now because I'm not spending so much time looking for stuff or trying to talk myself into using kits I don't really like!

Yesss!! It really did inspire me. I mean I thought I had a pretty good idea what I had on my hard drive but going through it all I was like when did I buy this and where did that come from and how come I have not used that? LOL It was like going shopping without spending any money. Most of the stuff I deleted is stuff from stores I dont really frequent and since I spend most of my time between like three or four stores I figured I would not need it. Especially since alot of it was really outdated (stuff I bought back in early 2007 and 2008 mostly. ) Then of course a whole bunch of free stuff. I do not think I deleted anything from SSD though LOL. I think everything I have bought here is all still pretty much something Id still use :)

it feels great to purge!!! I need to do that more often but it seems for every 15 gb I purge I add back 30 in something new.. my poor hard drive!

Recently I have deleted tons of freebies that I downloaded but have never used. My HDD can breathe again! :D

I don't delete stuff that I bought because I know how much it cost me... :) The more I try to buy only things that I either love so much for the first sight or I see a real usage for them.

This leads me to a question... When I buy a CD that I get later bored of or I don't like anymore, I usually give it to some of my friends. If it, theoretically happens that I don't like some kit (I paid for) anymore, is it possible to give it to someone (of course just to ONE person, same as if it was a CD) and then delete it from my disc and all the backups...?

I am joining you in this question. It seems we *are* telepathic as we so often find, because I asked the very same question in this thread (https://www.sweetshoppecommunity.com/forum/showpost.php?p=631432&postcount=58) -- so far without getting an answer. :-D

So let me ask again:

I have a question regarding this issue which has been bugging me for some time.

If I have a kit that I've bought legally, but I have never used it myself for whatever reason (it didn't meet my expectations, it doesn't suit my style anymore, etc.), and I have a friend who might be interested in starting digi-scrapping, can I give her such a kit as a gift? That is, for her exclusive use, she wouldn't be sharing it with anybody, and I would delete the files from my drive, thus giving up the right to use them.

It would seem to me that it's OK - the kit has been paid for and it will be only used by one person, only the purchaser and the user won't be the same person. If you buy a CD/DVD/whatever you don't like, you can give to others, after all.

But still I thought I'd better ask what you think about this.

My husband has just upgraded my computer (love him!) and he could not believe is eyes that my scrapbooking folder was more than 100 gigabytes... as I have some music, cliparts etc. on DATA drive, I had just 1 gigabyte left.

I have purged almost 6 gigabytes of another freebies I downloaded but never used and now I do not like them at all...

But I would never delete anything I paid for :)

I can answer the questions about giving away the stuff you haven't used. Since the digital items are non-consumable what you actually purchased was a license to use the files. the same as when you purchase a license to listen to a song on I-tunes. You can listen to it all you want but it's not kosher to 'give' that license to someone else even if you never did listen to it.

Hope that helps explain it. I have a full video tutorial about copyright at my educational site (http://www.doitdigi.com/dsc/forum/index.php?topic=58.0).

Thank you for your answer :) Since I have TONS of photos, I think each item of my collection will - hopefully - have its usage one day :)

(yeah, when being stressed, shopping for kits is an extremely effective relax for me :) )
