Or was I crazy, lol?
I can't believe this happened - I think I may have to scrap about the craziness.

OMG - that is one crazy lady! I am so sorry this happened to you. It's funny how people are always threatening to call CPS over the smallest, insignificant things, but the cases where they are really needed are usually ignored.

I like to read this blog to get a bit of perspective on thing: http://freerangekids.wordpress.com/

OMGoodness. I understand having a concern over a childs safety, but to still go on after the managers assured her that the door was safe? Umm..ya she is definitely a little crazy. Sorry you had to deal with that!

She wouldn't even go look for herself.

Oh, yeah, right, head of CPS? If that were so, she'd know when kids are in real danger. Sounds like she's just a busybody who can't stand that she looked like an idiot when she was wrong about the door.

Wow! That woman better watch it, you know what they say about karma.

She's worried about you, but yet she sees no harm in making a scene and getting all riled up with a total stranger in front of her children. If she was really head of CPS all those years she would know when a child is truly in danger and someone needs to step in. I don't believe her for a minute.

Sorry you had to deal with that.

I think Dawn is absolutely correct. Some people think it's their business to "save the world" and don't like being told there's nothing to save. Sorry you had to be the victim of her superhero crisis.

She wouldn't even go look for herself.

Um, yeah! She didn't want to know she was wrong! What a crazy woman! I am glad you made the manager aware of the situation. I wouldn't worry about it too much. Child services has bigger fish to fry than a woman who lets her son open a child safe door! LOL Shoot, you have a whole community here that know you are a KICK BUTT mom!!!! Need us to sign a petition??? :)

Yea I think she was kinda weird defenitely. I had a run in with a lady at Burger King years ago when her kids were being really mean to mine and she tried to blame my kids for it.

Wow. Really. What a nut. So sorry you had to deal with her. And, the fact that she wouldn't quit and obviously had no self-check mechanism. Just wow.

So sorry she had to be a busybody. I think it's really sad she missed a teachable moment with her kids teaching them tolerance and the it's ok to ask questions as long as you are polite about it. Unfortunately she probably was the head of CPS for some backwater county someplace...lots of really dumb power-trippy chicks and gents in those offices!

BUT...I'm glad this caused you to post about it! Love love love your blog! I'm in the middle of training a service dog and have the constant barrage of well-meaning questions when we're at the store. Some days I can walk, some days I can't so if I'm walking the curious want to know who I'm training Saya for and/or what I need her for. I also get plenty of looks when I park in the HC spaces. Yeah...maybe I'm walking into the store...no guarantee I'm walking out a couple of hours later though...MS is very tiring (and so is the dog training!) LOL

Anyway, it's great to read your stories and I loved your FAQ. :D

If that woman had been head of CPS for 25 years she'd have a whole hell of a lot more to worry about than a child safe door. My mom has been in adult protective services for 20 yrs and on call for anything goes on rotating weekends. Trust me, a door is the least of their worries. I've heard some horror stories and not one of them involved chic fil a. That's just some people's mentality. Governement is God and will take care of you and police every darn thing you do and they'll make sure of it. You can't win with folks like that.
If you see her again, wheel right over her foot and tell her it was her responsibility to wear steel toed shoes. :cursing: You're not mean so you woudn't, but that would be funny

I'm sorry that happened to you! Don't let her make you feel bad about yourself, though. Some people just have too much time on their hands or not enough going on in their lives.... I think she was completely out of line.

That's crazy...she's crazy! I'm sorry this horrible person upset you over something so silly...she seriously needs to get a life and go and worry about kids that actually are in harms way (if that's what she really does).
