Ta Da! My Peanut butter cake :)

Whew...been working on this all day and I have to say...I've "sampled" it so much I may not have room to actually eat a piece tonight lol...but I ♥ how it turned out...I did the letters with candy melts..they didn't turn out as neat as I wanted but I don't have time to redo them...oh and the buttercream is delicious!! My parents are coming over and we're cooking out steaks with them for DH's birthday dinner...he doesn't know about the cake yet though :)

Ohhh wow. IT IS GORGEOUS!!! We don't have those kind of cakes in Italy.. and I love peanut butter sooo much... but it's rare to find it here. Miss the States! :D

The recipe I use for buttercream has 1/2 and 1/2 butter and shortning, plus a few other things...I'm assuming I'd substitute so much of the butter and/or shortning for PB?

Nikki, did you just make regular buttercream and use a certain percentage of PB?

The recipe I use for buttercream has 1/2 and 1/2 butter and shortning, plus a few other things...I'm assuming I'd substitute so much of the butter and/or shortning for PB?

The recipe I used reduced the butter/shortening to 1/3 c. each...here it is...

* 1/3 cup solid vegetable shortening
* 1/3 cup butter
* 3/4 cup peanut butter
* 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
* 4 cups (approx. 1 lb.) confectioners' sugar, sifted
* 4-6 tablespoons milk

I did have to make another 1/2 batch to finish up though b/c this made about 3 c. which was enough to ice the cake but not for the piping stuff. Also I had to add milk before I finished up adding the powdered sugar b/c it was really dry after about 3 cups.

Thanks Nikki, I just made it! After dinner, I'll try it out to see what it's like! I did have to add more milk too, and I found the icing a bit sweet (I did taste that LOL) but I tend to find things very sweet even if they aren't. I haven't actually had a piece of cake yet, so combined with the cake, I'm sure it's just fine! :)
