My Rebel broke yesterday :( well the little thingie you use to eject the memory card broke.......but I've been wondering about a new camera for awhile now. I'm trying to decide if I want another rebel or this Nikon? i've read some reviews but wondered if anyone here had any experience with one?

I'd stick with another Rebel. If you switch brands you'll have to reinvest in new lenses. I've always been a Nikon gal but briefly considered switching to Canon until I realized I'd waste a TON of money on all of the Nikon-compatible lenses I have.

Are you familiar with Ken Rockwell's site? He doesn't speak highly of the D3000.

well I only had the kit lens for the Canon too, so that's not a consideration either :P

ooh yikes..that review doesn't look good does it. I'm more confused than ever! LOL

Is there a reason you were thinking of switching? Is there something you don't like about your Rebel?

He says it's a good camera all by itself, but that it's the worst DSLR that Nikon has made.

He recommends the D5000 since you can't buy a D40 new any more.

We just got the D5000 in March. I am too scared to use it, only Dave has used it but he loves it. We got it on Amazon and it was cheaper then in the stores.

We have the Nikon D300, but have heard some pretty bad reviews on the D3000!
If you already have a Canon, why not look at upgrading your Canon, then at least you still have the lenses?

I had a Rebel XT that broke last October so in November I went with a Nikon D3000. Love it! :) I didn't have any other lenses than the kit lens so switching brands wasn't a problem for me.

I have a rebel XT that works wonderfully but I've had it for 5 years. I've been looking at upgrading it for the EOS Rebel Ti2. I also have several Canon lens. If I was rich I would be upgrading to the EOS-1D Mark IV.
