another stupid virus.!!

i'm on the lame-o laptop right now. i found another one of those Trojan.FakeAV viruses again last night. luckily from the last time i had it i kept that RKill and Malware programs on here. but it took me several tries to get rid of it. now i cannot get internet connection at all. it can't find the network, i can't do updates, my firewall won't come on. i'm thinking that that &^%& virus attached itself to some .dll files or something and when it got rid of it it also go rid of important files. just a guess, i don't know lol. so now i'm running check disk or whatever. i've tried doing system restore and it won't work, tried 3 times with different restore points. everything seems fine except i can't get interent connection. it says my ethernet is working properly. i don't know what to do. my kids were playing games on it yesterday, same thing that happened last time. so i deleted all of their games, lol. no more playing on mommies computers. DH says we may have to get a new hard drive and start fresh. he hasn't helped me out really. i've been trying to figure it out on my own.

i'd like to find whoever made that virus and beat the living crap out him. :cursing:

Ugh, people want to find better things to do with their time instead of messing with peoples computers. :cursing:

It sounds a bit like the one I got on my 1 WEEK old laptop a few weeks ago, but after I ran my AV and spybot it seems to have gone. I realised I had one straight away so it had no time to do any real damage according to the man who helped me fix it.

i've had this one before and had no further issues once i got rid of it. but this time around it just really did a number on my poor computer. i don't want to have to pay the Geek Squad to fix it if i can avoid it, lol,

but, after searching the internet on this computer for people with similar issues, i found a program that claims it can restore some missing files or something that causes the computer to not find an internet connection. so i put it on a flash drive so i can install it on the other one. i'm still waiting on the check disk to finish but hopfully this will fix it. or its back to searching, lol. this is a learning experience, lol.

**just out of curiosity i checked the geek squad prices. HOLY CRAP. $149-$199 to get rid of viruses!? you're better off going to a small locally owned computer shop. way cheaper. (we've done this in the past before we had much knowledge of computers)

We just went through something similar. Pictures and digisupplies were on the EHD so those were fine, but I lost all my layouts. I told dh I wanted just 5 minutes with the jackhole responsible. :cursing:

i got mad and gave up and dH got on and did a partition restore or whatever. i probably lost all my pictures and kits and everything. and i'll have to reinstall pse8 and all my actions (if i can redownload ones i bought from my4hens). kits i can re download, atleast some of them. i'm really sad about the pictures. you cant get them back. :( i hope this restore fixes it though.

it just makes me sad when I hear about things like this happening. We put so much of our precious memories on our tech devices that its a real blow when something goes bad. I hope you are able to recover some of your photos at least.

i lost everything. i was able to download pretty much most of my SSD kits from here though. very grateful for that. i have a few other kits from MScraps and other places i'll hopefully be able to get. and i have to get all my actions again. i'm really upset that i lost my pics. i'm going to look into online backup i think.
