NSBR telescope for kids?

Well, one of my 8 year olds has decided that he realy, really wants a telescope. We actually got the other one a telescope 2 Christmases ago and it stunk (it was cheap:p)-we couldn't see anything! Anyone have a good, but not too expensive, recommendation??? They are probably going to start saving up and ask for additional $$ for their birthday in August, but I told them I'd see if we could at least pick out what they wanted! TIA!

My son wanted one for his last birthday. A friend got him one that was probably $15 from Toys R Us. Needless to say, it went straight back to the store. My hubby ended up getting him the more expensive one there (prob. same brand, just better quality). It's by-no-means professional, but they see quite a bit with it. Sorry I don't know specifics about it.

this one looks really nice and it is on sale for 99 marked down from 160. There are other less expensive ones on the site but for the price it seems to be a pretty good deal.
