I will be SO glad when my daughter is out of school this year. One more issue with her school. The yearbook committee designed this crappy yearbook. It is a softcover book (has like a cardstock cover) which slides into a cardboard box. The cardboard box is torn across the front and where the piece is torn out it says "Cutting Back" on the front of the yearbook. I guess the theme is supposed to be conservation. Well the senior class in general is totally upset over this because the book costs 85 dollars. My daughter really wants one but is afraid the quality of it it wont last. if she buys it we could take it to somewhere and have a hard cover put on it? Like some sort of binding company? Im not even sure about where that you could have that done or if it even could be done. My daughter has pictures of the yearbook on her phone but unfortunately she is not here right now. Ill post the pics when she gets here so you can see how crappy it looks.

It will be fine. She'll take it into school for a few days to get people to sign it, and then it'll be forgotten about for years and sit on a bookshelf or in a box somewhere.

ETA: No, I don't think you can take it somewhere to get a hardcover put on it.

WOW. I have no idea about the binding, but you know that's just INSANE to charge that much money and NOT get a hard bound book. My yearbooks from middle school on through high school are all hard bound and very nice and have held up well.

For $85 they should get a nice book. I'm sorry. Im sure there is something you can do to take it apart and make it nicer. There's bound to be a way - good luck.

Some of the kids paid for customized books which is supposed to be an embossed name on the cover. Well the "customization" on this book was a sticker!! 20 dollars to add the sticker to the book.

My daughter said there is a big deal being made out of it because most of the senior class is really unhappy about the quality of the book and it is supposed to be on the news this evening.

I did find a book bindery and the guy I talked to said he should be able to make it right for my daughter but it would cost a minimum of 25 dollars.

When I say cardboard BTW I mean like corrugated cardboard. Like what a pizza comes in. Similar to that type of box anyhow. It is very flimsy and well just plain ugly looking.

Holy smokes... $85!! Wow, things have changed since I was on yearbook in high school... okay that was like 15 years ago...:glare: But still!! That is horrible!

Could you get one of those plastic magazine covers like you see at the doctor's office? If you just want to protect it for storage...

Rebecca the yearbooks are HUGE!! Around 500 pages. But still you are right 85 dollars is alot which is why you would expect a good quality book. She is a little less upset now that she found out it can be rebound. She does look through her yearbooks peridoically and because they are so big and thick it seems like it would need a better binding/cover.

Her senior class is between 800-1000 and her school has I think around 4500 students?

I can't fathom that many people in a class... we lived in rural areas... I had 74 in my class and my husband had 25 kids in his... wow.... her senior class is bigger than my whole town!
