View Full Version : Picking a name, which do you like best?
So I'm having a boy and I really like Jayssen and Cameron. Which order to like better for First and Middle Name?
Cameron Jayssen
or
Jayssen Cameron
??? Thanks in advance! Oh and the last name is Mower (pronounced Mauer)

Cameron!!! I love that name, unfortunately, we have a BIL who is not the greatest person in the world, so we'll never use it... but i like it best!

Of the 2 I would prefer jayssen as the first name (well that's assuming you pronounce it like Jason), only because Cameron is becoming a more and more popular name for girls (we considered it for our last baby 7 months ago if it would have been a girl).

Congrats Yari!! wonderful news!
I think they both sound wonderful, so I'll abstain from voting :)

I prefer Cameron as the first name. Names with unusual spellings are nearly impossible to find when the kids are wanting the mug, the pencil, the whatever that has their name on it...and I'm traditional to boot LOL. :)

I really like the way Cameron Jayssen sounds -- I like how Jayssen sounds as a middle name as opposed to a first! :) Maybe just wait till you meet him and see if he feels/looks like a Cameron or a Jayssen. That's what we did for Connor :) He didn't have a name till a day after he was born, lol :)

Both are great but I like Cameron as the first name.
Wow! Thank you for all the responses - so very helpful! Looks like the majority like Cameron Jayssen better (and yes, Jayssen would be pronounced like Jason, it's just that it has all the initials of all my other kids so that's why the unusual spelling). Now I have to sell the idea of the name to my hubby! LOL I hope he likes it! :) Thanks again!

I also like the JC nickname (if you're into that)...I like it better than CJ (too common for me). But, both names flow well with your last name, in either order.
Good luck,

I have a female cousin nick-named CJ which is why I thought JC sounded better LOL. I love the name Cameron though. Heck half the time I call my son who's first name is Nickolas-Tyler. He hates being called Tyler but it was the name I wanted ffor his first name but his dad was not sold on it. I also like Nathaniel. He would have been Nathaniel Tyler but ended up Nickolas Tyler because his dad hated nathaniel also.
CJ sounds better somehow... :)

They are both super cute! As someone that has gone through life having to spell out my name to everyone, I'm always more likely to choose more traditional names that won't constantly get misspelled. My maiden name was so much easier, now I have to spell out both of my names every time, lol.

Cameron Jayssen because I don't like names with unusual spellings especially with a name that is almost always spelled one way. I would hate to spent my entire life saying, Jason, having them start to write that then say, no, its spelled Jayssen. Plus it might be mispronounced a lot. Cameron is nice though.

You so have to wait for the right minute with them. They will totally turn down a name they would normally like if you don't hit them in the right mood.

Congratulations! We picked out 3 names and didn't choose the real name until we had actually held our son for a few hours. Then he was definately a Liam and not a Victor or an Andrew!
My 2 cents: I love the name Cameron for a first name! My DH worked with a Cameron--great guy!

I have always had to spell all of my names....such a pain.
My maiden name: Jeanye (pronounced like Genie) Marye (like Marie but with the Y) Pearce (more traditional spelling is Pierce)
Married name:
Jeanye Marye Labaya (pronounced La Bye Ya - it's Filipino)
And if they can't spell it, they can't pronounce it either. :p
That being said....I still love names with "different" spelling. I didn't do it to my kids too much though. I gave Alyssa my Marye middle name. That's about it! :)

Now that I hijacked your thread Yari, I wanted to say that I too like CJ order. It just seems to flow better.
Congrats on the new baby btw!

We did the same thing! Only we had 5 names (mine was for sure a Nicholas, not a Tobias, James, Theodore or Samuel), I am really happy we did this. It still held some element of surprise for every one, too.

I did that, twice, lol. My eldest was without name for nearly 24 hours as I couldn't decide, and I had 2 picked for my youngest, he ended up as Harry! :)

Congrats on having a boy!! We have 3 and are hoping for pink this time!!!
I guess I am a sucker for traditional spellings so my vote is for Cameron Jayssen. I LOVE the name Jason...we named DS #2 Jason Andrew after two former students of mine!!! I am thinking down the road when he goes to school and Jayssen is always mispelled and when he wants a personalized cup, pencils or something else and you can't find it!!! Our poor little Seth only has a pet rock with his name on it and it sucks!!! LOL
