We went first thing in the morning to get announcements printed at Office Depot. They tell us their color is down but we can print b.w. Well no my daughter wanted her school colors in her announcements so they suggest we go to Staples. Staples can do it but they want alot more then Office Depot and they tell me they do not do full color bleed so they could not do the announcements I had designed anyhow. Spent a long time there while the lady tried to "fix" my announcements. Ummm the back is a pattern the front has a large border with the announcement info in the middle of the paper. I told her I dont mind trimming but Office Depot was going to trim them for me!! So we figure we will just go back to Office Depot tomorrow. So then we go to get grad photos printed and I guess I did not check carefully what I was doing because her grad photo was supposed to look like this(printed in 4x6):

Only it cut off about 1 inch of the bottom (basically all that was left of the "Class of 2010" was the 010 so the Class of 2 was cut off). I made it when I was kinda tired and didnt double check the size to make sure it would do ok on a 4x6 photo. So they did not look good needless to say. So I was thinking I was going to have to go home and figure out what I did wrong but the guy at walmart was able to fix it sort of so it ended up looking like this:

It doesnt look bad but my daughter saw the first set and got all upset and just stormed off before he said he could fix it. And I felt like it was my fault because I should have done a practice print first (although the computer DID NOT let you proof to see what you were ordering before ordering it)

Anyhow after all of that by the time I left I was ready to cry. I was trying to make her grad pictures and announcements special and different then all the other 800 or so kids in her graduating class and instead I feel like I just ruined them and should have just let her go ahead and order the ones from Herff Jones like all her friends did.

the photo itself I love. And we dont have any announcements to really mail because everyone who is getting one lives near us so we still technically have a few days to get them out. I think we may have to mail five or less. Its just my daughter made the comment if she had ordered from Herff Jones she would have everything already and would not have worry about all of this.

Aww... I'm sure when it's all printed, she will appreciate very much that you've made it specially for her. :)
Sometimes teenagers are like that... I was like that, too, to my mum... and I regreted it at the end for hurting her. *hugs*

Awww honey, sorry you went through this. I know that my children are guilty of doing and saying things like this. They really don't know how their words and actions can hurt us in those times when we are trying so hard to just be good Mommies. I hope she comes around and you two work it out. My oldest has a hard time saying I'm sorry so, we usually just move on from that point and things blow over. The other two will usually say I'm sorry. {{{Hugs}}}

Hugs! But I think they still look really nice... teenagers are just moody, I'm sure she'll be ok with them.

Oh honey, I'm sorry. I know how you must feel. Try not to let it upset you too badly. You'll get it all figured out. I hope your daughter is happy with the final product. Hugs!!!!

she actually did like them alot. She said she stormed off because she thought she would have to pay for the screwed-up photos. Still I felt horrible. It was hot and everywhere we went we had to wait and wait and wait and everyone was really tense by the end of the day so I think having the pictures messed up too just kinda was the last straw. The guy was really understanding and nice about it though and told me he was sorry the first set messed up and he did manage to make it so we could have them printed. Im still not really sure why they did not print because aside from "writing" and putting a small border on it and editing the actual looks of the photo I did not change the size. never had an issue printting 4x6 before. So the only thing I could think happened was I put the border on the outside of the photo instead of the insidee.

It happens so often... my wedding announcement should have had gold embossed letters, instead of this it was lemonish-yelow!!! :thumbdown: Due to the alck of time we could not have had another embossed print done, so we print them on a solid paper with a simple laser printed with black letters instead...
