View Full Version : Sometimes,...it just makes me sad

...to watch my boys growing up so quickly. Connor is now eligible for preteen camp through our church. That just sounds SOOO old. Aiden is going to his first sleepover camp weekend without us. The milestones keep piling and piling, and it makes me sad that the boys are growing faster than I can keep up with them...and soon, they'll be gone. *sniff*sniff*

Other times, I think it's great at all the new cool stuff they're learning and developing, and find joy in watching them along their journey.

...and on other days, they grow up quickly enough! :p

Oh man, do I understand that. My oldest is now driving me around, when I let him. LOL, and he just got his first job and starts today at Subway. Am I really that old? My 2 youngest are both 7 now and I wish time would slow down just a little.

i'm over it. maddie is going into 7th grade and it's breaking my little heart. luckily she doesn't have the tween attitude and we are still buddies but i am praying that lasts. *sigh*

lukas turned 9 yesterday and that broke my heart too. when he hits 10, i'm sure i will lose it.

I can't believe that Brody (our last baby) is already 2 months. It seems to go faster than ever.

Now it's time to start thinking about preschool & all that for Anna (who does have a Tween'itude...& she's only 3).

& Grace is finally starting to attempt talking.

Ugh! My kids are still so little (5, 3, 1), but I am feeling this way more and more all the time. I just want them to stay little. But, I also want them to grow up. Ahhh - parenthood! :)

I can barely bear to think about it - my DS will be 7 months old on Tuesday...I'm not sure how that's possible since he was born last week! And I don't know how my DD is already 3, she was born last month!

I understand :(

When I think of Nathan being 10 this summer it breaks my heart.

I've had that thought a lot lately too. My oldest will be 8 next week - how did that happen? My middle will be in all-day K in the fall and my sweet "baby" will be 3 in a few short months. I still think of him as my baby but he is leaving the last of his baby days behind him quickly. :( I haven't caught up with that idea mentally yet though.

I totally understand, Darcy. My kids are 9, 7, and 5. Next year, Rae will be in Grade 1, so she'll be in school all day. This means from 8 til almost 3, I'll have NO ONE home with me. Some things will be easier, but I'll be so lonely! Right now, Rae goes to 1/2 day kindy, so I don't see her for a couple of hours, and it's a nice break. But to not have anyone home with me all day will be so sad!

I always get sad when they have to go back to school after summer vacations and Christmas holidays. I feel lame just saying that! I just feel like time is going faster than I can keep up with!

It's bittersweet for me too. I think it's fun that my kids are maturing but parenting gets harder not easier & gosh it just goes sooo quickly. My baby just turned 7 and my oldest is going to be 12 in mere days. UGUGGHH Now I'm starting to understand why my Mom says my birthdays are harder for her than hers are LOL

DD4 asked me today what it would be like if she "was a whale".

DD10 (in 5th grade - they saw *the* movie week before last) asked me today if it hurts when you "become an unvirgin".

Ask me which question I liked better.

I don't think that's lame - I think your post is very sweet.

My kids waste so much energy bickering, fighting and looking for reasons to be offended that I dread breaks and can't wait til they are all in school full-time next fall.

only another 2 weeks and 4 days and my oldest is out of high school so trust me I have been really reminiscing the last few weeks/months. its hard to watch them grow up sometimes.

I've been having the same feelings lately. DD will be 7 in July and just finished up 1st grade yesterday. DS just turned 2 about 2 weeks ago. I try not to think too much about it because it makes me so sad sometimes. Time just goes by way too fast these days!

I don't have teens but am feeling it anyhow. My birthday is Saturday and is a milestone for me. Then add that my oldest starts Kindy in the fall and my baby girl is in a summer Preschool class already. :( I'm glad they are growing up but they could slow down. It seems since they started walking they just took off running.

I have enjoyed my teenagers SO much-so much more than I did when they were small-not that I didn't love them-but I have decided I'm not a baby person-HA...I like my teenagers-SO MUCH.
It breaks my heart almost in half to think that in just two short years both of my big boys will be leaving for college-Zak next Fall and Connor the year after-
I will of course have my sweet little Landen-but my heart hurts tremendously at the idea of losing my Z and my C...I'm seriously crazy about them both-and they are both such good boys-Maybe I'll buy a huge house and we can just all live together forever-is that odd?

I'm not only sad to see our three boys aging, but I'm also sad to see our family (our parents) getting older. I find that time goes by so fast. :( If I could just bottle it a little...

I feel a TOTAL sense of panic about this! Jack starts kindergarten in the fall. I'm just gonna die when he is gone from early morning till 3:30 every day. Seriously, die. I feel like good parenting is so much more crucial at this stage, and I feel so unqualified to guide him to that place. It feels like all my shortcomings are brought out by this whole being a mom thing.
