This morning when I got Naomi dressed it looked like she had a rash on her chest. But I looked her over and it was just one spot on her chest, so I actually thought she had just layed too hard in the one spot, kwim? That what I was seeing was just blanket marks or something. So I got her dressed and didn't think anything else of it. She's acted totally normal.

Just now she came over to me, gave me a funny look and then vomited all over the place.

I stripped off her clothes to clean her up and noticed that it IS in fact a rash, it's still there and only in one spot (right in the middle of her sternum).

Now I'm concerned, have a call into the peds. The rash looks like it could be scarlett fever, which my kids get a lot..both of them got strep way younger than should be possible because I'm a strep carrier, I colonize strep in my throat all the time but don't have symptoms of strep throat all the time. Anyway, if she has strep (I looked; her throat doesn't look red) she'll need meds. If it's just a viral rash, she wouldn't need to be seen I wouldn't think. She is still acting completely normal otherwise. I'm not sure what to do, and I can't do anything about it just yet b/c Tab's at a dr. appt and I have to get Tristan off the bus in 20 minutes. I'll have to wait till Tabatha returns before I can do anything, which will be another hour or more.

I'm stumped.

oh, and she had chicken pox AND fifths disease both before she was 3 months old. My second thought was that it was fifths but it couldn't be; she's had it.

nevermind, got an answer. The office called back and said her doctor had left for the day but that I needed to take her to the ER.

I was going to suggest fifth's disease. You can get that more then once though cant you? My daughter had it as a kid...she was diagnosed with it. Then when she was just past 18 she had the exact same symptoms she had had as a kid rash and all. I didnt take her to the dr because it seemed to pass pretty quickly on its own (well the rash took a couple days to go away completely). But when I compared her rash to pics online of fifth disease it looked exactly the same and every symptom they listed for fifth disease she had displayed. Since it said it typically passes without any complications and our primary care dr is such a pain to get into I didnt call and figured if there was any real comp;lications the urgent care place was only 5 miles away.

Anyhow that was just my experience. I guess it is possible to only get it once but I was pretty sure that is what she had back in Feb. this year.

Hope Naomi feels better. I find that unless it is soemthing really bad most kids between 2 and 5ish will act normal and play even when they are sick as dogs LOL.

we're back..it was, in fact, scarlett fever & strep throat...even though she acts completely fine (other than the one-off sick and the rash). She has antibiotics and zofran and seems ok otherwise :D

I had scarlett fever once, and for the most part I felt totally fine. You know, aside from being the color purple. :p
I'm glad that you got her seen and got some meds and she's doing well :)
