View Full Version : Which Photo?

So this is the ONLY group photo I have of my entire bridal (crazy right? LOL!). I absolutely ADORE how it came out though, 100% perfect and exactly what I was looking for (I LOVED our photographer).
I want to get it blown up and printed on a canvas to hang in the house. Like 20x30 or something for the size (I haven't worked that out yet, lol). My problem is that I can't decide on the edit. I ran my new-favorite action on it (TRA's Oh Snap! from set 1), but then I ran a cooling action on it too to get rid of some of the yellow. I lowered the opacity of the cooling layer, but I still can't decide. The non-cooled one seems too yellow, but also a little bit more whimsical to me (reminds me ofn edit that sarah at myfourhens would do). But with the cooler one the sun flare isn't as strong, and I kinda like that part.
Soooo, which one do you like better? LOL!
#1 - Original + Oh Snap!

I think they both look good. I would look at where you plan to hang it and see if the area is cooler or warmer in colors and go off it that way.

Ooooh, that's a good idea! I never would have thought of that!
I'm doing a big gallery grouping on a super tall wall in our foyer and I want this to be in it. I'm going to cut out papers that match the frames that I have, and tape them to the wall to decide how I want the placement of things to go. I'm loving the silhouettes that are all over the web, so I'm gonna do 3 of those too (one of my husband, one of me, and one of our dog, Tigah-now :))
Angie, you're totally right and I didn't notice that either. I just popped the reds a little more in PS in both of them. I'm leaning towards the cooler one overall right now, but that can change, LOL! I might print them out at home and just hang them up on that wall and see which one looks better. Jordan, of course, will think I'm insane and that they are exactly the same :p

I like the first one better...the colors and little details just seem to pop out much better in that one.

The warmer one, the colors (especially the black/red) seem much richer.

Ah! I think this one is the best now. I popped the reds a little more, added a bit more contrast, and fixed a wonky defog layer, lol.
Yay or nay?

Definetely the warmer one. The colors pop more to me with that one - not just the reds but also the greens in the background.

We posted at the same time - Now I like the third edit better. Nice and clean - which is totally my style.

I hear ya Mel, I'm learning my own style myself. I like brighter/more popped colors but still clean, kwim?
Anyway, I'm stoked. You guys are always so helpful! :) This is going on a LO as well that I'll finish up this week! Woot!

well, I said one, but I like three the best now. I still need to print out a bunch of my wedding photos for a wall in our house and we're coming up on our 4th anniversary, lol

Okay so I voted #1, but I LOVE the 3rd one. Nice job!

I couldn't decide earlier so didn't vote as I tend to lean more towards Sarah's(M4H's) style, but I LOVE the 3rd edit!!

I can't believe you don't have a jumping bridal party pic, Col!

I barely got THIS one LA! Lol! One of the Matre D's (totally spelled that wrong) came out and was like umm...you can't take pictures, there's no time.
I was like um, excuse me??? Yea, not so much lady. So people saw us taking the pictures, but I didn't care about that at all. I need to get at least 1 effing picture of the whole bridal party, lol. There's another one of this that's darker, but I like this one. So essentially, it's the only one.
Thankfully we have a few pictures of Jordan and I at my parents house with Tiger. Otherwise we wouldn't have hardly any portraits alone either. Traffic totally messed up schedule, lol. We missed our whole cocktail hour :(

I think you already have this all figured out but I just wanted to say that I love your bridal party colors! The black with all the red accents and the red accents on your dress looks so awesome together.

No matter how many times I hear it, it always makes me happy. Thanks hon!!
Jordan's mom (well, his whole family really) STILL hasn't stopped gushing about how gorgeous and wonderful our wedding was, she's always saying it was the nicest wedding she's ever been to, including her own, LOL!
Apparently a lot of people doubted my color selection. Then they got to the wedding/saw me in the dress/etc and were like OOOOOOHHHHHHH!!!!! YAY!!! Lol! My mom kept telling people "apparently she knew what she was doing", LOL!

I like the first one better. I'm not sure if you have enough space on the sides to do a gallery wrap, though.

I love the first one best as well. It has such a lovely glow, I can almost smell the air on a summer evening when looking at it.
But saying this, in your case I would go and print a few smaller samples to see which printer/developing studio print lighter, darker, more red, more bleached... There can be a lot of difference. For example I usually get darker, but finer results when the pictures are really developed on photo paper instead of printed.
Though of course from a small photo you might not be able to judge how it looks on a canvas. In such a case I'd always prefer a real photo shop where I can talk to someone and see their prints/photos hanging around. They might be able to tell you looking at the photo if anything is too intense and which version will not loose that glow.

Good point and I agree. You may not be able to wrap it but you could always have a color, like black, on the sides.

I'm going to mess with the template and see what I can do about the sides. I would prefer not to do a color, so I might just play with some cloning around the left and right sides (the top and bottom are fine).

I like number 3. Of the first two I was going to say number 1 because of the skin tones. Everyone looked "healthier" to me. LOL!!!
Beautiful pic by the way -- and I like your color choices also.

When you send it to the lab (after all your hard work) just make sure they don't "color correct" your image! It will come back different then all your samples!! Ahhhhh!!!!

I'll be using WHCC and I'm pretty sure they only color correct if you ask them to (and pay for it).
