Longest graduation ceremony ever!! It started late and we did not get out of there until well after 11:00 almost midnight actually. They had 19 valedictorians too. And around 1100 graduates!! The big finale at the end they had fireworks which was pretty cool. Then it took forever to round up the whole family. I got pictures with my sister and neice who I hardly ever see so that was nice. Im working on uploading them but probably wont be til early in the morning cause Im eating dinner now and then hitting the hay Im so stinkin tire LOL

Was that just one school or a combined graduation for several? I thought Andrew's graduating class having seven valedictorians (he was one of them) was a lot!!
Congratulations to C and to you!!

that was just her school. Timber Creeek (the schoool she went to) is one of the largest in the state I believe. They have around 4300 students at any given time. I was so exhausted from yesterday that I am just now getting up!!

can someone explain multiple valedictorians?? Isn't that supposed to be the person who is ranked #1... meaning, they made the best grades??

I think when there are so many kids in one graduating class and they are all making straight A's and all involved in tons of afterschool activities and in volunteer activities they cant just choose one. They are all equal when it comes to choosing so theey just list them all? I am not really sure myself because I too thought you only had onee valedictorian.

Yeah, it boils down to them all having the same GPA. In Andrew's case it was because the point value of an A- was the same as an A. So even if Valedictorian 1 got all A-s and Valedictorian 2 got all As--they had the same GPA from it. His class has three Salutatorians. Andrew's class was only 250 people, btw.
My entire high school in the year I graduated had only 400 more students than C's graduating class!! My class was only 287 people, the largest the school has ever seen, lol!

I think most schools use a ranking system. SOOO many students have straight A's now. But when you take honors/AP classes they are worth 5 points instead of 4. So all the students ranking at #1 are valedictorians and probably most of them have close to a 5.0. My son had a weighted GPA of 4.73 and he was not a valedictorian. Class size was 700 and we had 4 valedictorians this year - 8 last year.
