If you're running Windows XP or newer, fonts won't be causing an issue with your computer. With opening your photo editing program, yes, but not your operating system.
Have you defragged lately? (I do 2-3 times a week). Have you run anti-virus/spyware programs? Have you run ccleaner (http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner) lately? How is your C:drive as far as storage? Lots of room in it or is it almost full?
If it's a booting issue..how many programs do you have set up to open @ bootup? Those might be causing a big drag.

Thanks Darcy!!
If you're running Windows XP or newer, (VISTA)fonts won't be causing an issue with your computer. With opening your photo editing program, yes, but not your operating system.
Have you defragged lately? (I do 2-3 times a week). WOW, I only defrag about once every six months. When I go into defrag, it tells me I don't need to, so I usually don't. But I will tonight.Have you run anti-virus/spyware programs? I have Norton, and it automatically runs and updates. Have you run ccleaner (http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner) lately? I have no idea what this is... I downloaded it, installed it, and then got chicken when it said it was going to delete things..How is your C:drive as far as storage? Lots of room in it or is it almost full? My C: drive is about half full.
If it's a booting issue..how many programs do you have set up to open @ bootup? Those might be causing a big drag.I am checking into this.. I need to search the programs that are in there because I don't recognize most of them.
Thanks, I am so relieved to know that it isn't my ever growing font file. I think I have a font addiction! Now that I have non-standard, fun fonts, I use them in EVERYTHING. I do not want to give them up, but the booting problem is driving me crazy and DH over the EDGE! I really appreciate all your help.

I would also look into a font manager. It allows you temporarily install fonts when you want to use them, so it doesn't slow down PS. I'm not sure which one I have at home, but it's free.

I have tons of fonts and dont notice a really show boot on my OS or my photo editing system. I did when I first got PSP though and I had to go into the options on that and uncheck a box next to aloow splash screen or soemthing like that? (that was the litttle screen that opened with the programs name before the porgram was actually open).
I would suggest doing a clean-up and defrag and disable any startup programs which are not necasary to your computer to start (like my daughter had AIM on here and it started/sgned in everytime the computer came on so I disabled it....eventually uninstalleed it compltely because my daughter would IM instead of doing homework)
