Ya'll I'm a dork!!! So I had my hubby set up facebook on my phone, just so I could text from it. So we are at WalMart and there is a man in full cowboy garb and what does my 2 year old do...starts yelling "Yee Haw" Well the man gets kind of pissy and says something to the effect of "Rude kids and bad mothers"

So instead of stooping to his level and saying something equally nasty back to him I thought I'd be a little smart alex and post what I wanted to say to him on facebook!!!

So I type it all out and go into my "Recent Recipients" folder and hit "send" to what I think is my facebook page................

WRONG!!!!!!!

I send this message "Word of advise buddy: don't wear a cowboy hat in public if you don't want my 2y/o to yell 'Yee Haw' at you!!!!

She sent me a message back that said: cute! the pic is of me and my Dad. Today's his birthday and he died 8 years ago.

I of course feel like an idiot and the scum of the earth!!! What are the chances.....1 in a million!?!?!?!

I did send a note back saying it was a mistake and I meant no harm, but who knows!!! So if any one of you all friends with Lori tell her I really am not an insensitive dirtbag, just a technological idiot!!!!

You should be able to go on her page and delete the comment hon.

I can't tell you how many times I've posted something to the wrong status on my iphone, lol.

Wow, that is quite the chance. I am sure if you explain what happened, she will understand.

OMG what a story. Wow. Sounds bit like me though.

Shall we make a story thread about the best "embrarrassment with mobile phones" stories?

I can't see the page that you linked... I want to know what everyone else is seeing, lol.

From what it sounds like, it was not a good place to send it. I would try explaining the WHOLE story to her, and apologize (again). I don't blame you for feeling awful, but it was an honest mistake!

why is that rude? I dont get it. I mean if it was an adult saying it I might say ok rude but a two year old sees a "cowboy" he/she probably thinks giddy up or yee-haw you know? Although I cannot see the picture either. I would probably just explain the story and tell her sorry. I have totally commented a photo with the wrong comment and looked like an idiot before AND sent a text to the wrong person. Get a message back saying WTH is this? Im like ummm wrong number sorry and they text me back insisting I tell them who I am etc LOL

The picture it shows on the person's facebook page is her and I guess her father dressed up in cowboy hats I'm guessing from when she was a kid.

Oh... I'm sorry for that, but I hope that Lori will understand it...

When I and my DH were dating, we used to send tons of text messages to each other, I had a space before his name, so he was the first in the contact list. I could do automatically all the clicks without looking at the mobile phone to send the message. Several times it happened I sent message for other person to my DH as I automatically did this click and that click... and the message was sent :) Fortunatelly, what he got were messages to my friends like: "Hi chicklet, looking forward for the pizza session... see you at 5 p.m. there..." or "Chickadee... I have just set up a guestbook on my website. Wheeeeeeee..."

My DH loves to tell a story that happened when he was attending High School. It was maybe 1995 and the computers were just beginning. They had IT classes and were learning e.g. how to send messages via local network to a specific user, to a group of users, to set its parameters and so on... One guy hated another (let's call him John Smith, a son of a teacher there at the school) and wrote a message: "JOHN SMITH IS A F..KING D.CK" giving a command: SEND ALL. He thought the message would display only on the screens of the classroom computers... but he was wrong. It displayed on ALL computers at school. So, a big green message saying "JOHN SMITH IS A F..KING D.CK" was flashing not only in the classroom, but also in the next classroom where little kids were having lesson, it was flashing on the screen of director, on the screen of all teachers... on every single PC at school which was switched on. He couldn't stop it as he had set a certain time period of repeating... OMG, this was definitely much worse than your Facebook comment :)

Zora, that is a good one. Definitely embarrassing.

A friend of mine told me that a couple of years ago she was telling fun stories about her boss, and in the group of people listening to her was - his wife. :-)

It happened to me that I sent an email or chat message where I wasn't that nice about a person TO the very person. You think about someone, you click on their name. Very dangerous.

I do hope the person on FB understands your faux-pas. We are all human, after all. BTW, it's really an extraordinary chance and it will evolve into a good story to tell. Later. :-)

Yep.. I've done that. There was a co-worker that almost the entire staff hated because he was a total ass. Anyway, his desk was directly across from mine and he would always interject himself into my conversations giving unsolicited advice and judgements. Anyway, one day, he was bloviating about my relationship with my then fiance (now my hubby)....and as he is talking, I opened up Yahoo Messenger to text the co-worker next to me. I was all like, "oh, what the hell does he know about relationships. He is a fool that doesn't realize his wife isn't in love with him anymore. What a jerk...I just wish he would STFU!" I clicked send. He looked up from his computer right at me and then I got an IM back from him saying, "did you intend to send this to me." I was frozen....but instantly felt no remorse and wrote back, "clearly not".

We had a few words out in the hall. I apologized and he ended up quitting the company weeks later.

Needless to say, I am very careful when I instant message now.
