For me this time...Ive had some problems with my kidneys in the past. Multiple kidney stones and kidney infections over the course of about 16 years. I would have spasms and pains that the doctors could not explain and could not find a cause for them as well. Well last month I had some blood work done and the test for kidney functions came back and they were apparently abnormal and the doctor is very concerned about it. She referred me to a nephrologist (kidney doctor). My appointment is next week on the 14th I believe. I am not sure what will be done. She said the doctor there will want to run some tests on me to find out what damage if any has been done to my kidneys and see where we need to go from there. She is kinda hoping the test results were skewed because I have been taking advil and motrin for the past 18 months for the pain in my neck from the car accident in 2008. I did not take it every single day and I followed the dosing on it but she said it is not good to take it for that long of a time period. The only reason I was taking it that long is because that is what my old doctor recomended for the pain in my neck so I believed it was safe. So I could really use some positive thoughts and prayers this goes well and when they do the tests everything comes back normal and my kidney functions are back where they should be.

I did question him about it and he assured me it was safe to take them as long as I followed the dosing directions. But you know it did not really work for the pain that well so I kept asking the dr if there was something else that would be more effective for it and he kept telling me advil would be the best thing. Iwas only taking the kind you buy over the counter though not prescription strength.
i hope everything is ok!!!!

Its very possible that its the medication.
My dad has had some abnormal liver funciton tests that the drs think were a result of medication that metabolized through the liver. perhaps the ibuprofen goes through the kidneys.
MANY HUGS and prayers

You're in my prayers hun!
I had 2 kidney stones in the course of 4 months. One in January and one in April...which resulted in surgery. So I can totally identify with the pain from that.

I've had surgery for kidney stones as well, totally sucked. It was the worst pain of my life. I surely hope they can help you, and everything turns out to be just fine!
