Last month my husband, son and I had to go to get depositions done for the car accident we were in and their office was on like the 8th floor. In the elevator it went from floor 12 to floor 14 which totally cracked me up. I meant to take a picture but didnt want to look like a dork. Have you ever noticed that in buildings before? And what I want to know is do they really think by numbering the floors 12 and 14 that there is no "13th" floor? Really the 14th floor is the 13th LOL. IDK why that thought just entered my mind just now and thought I would share.

Makes me think of that John Cusak movie where he works in that office between floors and has to stoop to walk around? What's the name of that one?

Yes...I used to work in the hotel industry (one was attached to a casino) and most do not have a 13th floor. Big time superstitious folks come to casinos btw! LOL I asked about it one time, while in training for a front desk position, and was told that if they had a 13th floor that no one would want to stay there.

Sooo....would you stay on a floor with the number "13" in it? Personally it wouldn't bother me as long as the room was clean.

but if they stay on the "14th" floor they are technically staying on the 13th floor LOL unless there is a 13th floor that is just not occupied or used for storage or something. It just cracks me up. IDk just some weird superstitions.

The 14th floor is technically the 13th floor, but since it's not numbered 13, people are ok with that. They wouldn't be ok with staying on a floor with the number 13. People are nuts, but this is REALLY really common.

I have never heard of this!!! And we've stayed all over the US and in several big casinos in Vegas. I never noticed!!!

Staying in a hotel with a 13th floor, or even staying on the 13th floor wouldnt bother me one bit. Heck, maybe I might win more in Vegas if I stayed on a 13th floor, LOL!!!

Yep, I have seen this tons of times. My dad says his lucky # is 13 cause that's when he was born.

I would stay on the 13th floor because there might be hardly anyone there to bug me!

I read an article online after wondering about that and it said in Europe they will not put the number 13 on a house and in some places in Italy a house between 12 and 14 will be 12 & 1/2 LOL Just cracks me up

Wow ... you just NOW noticed that? ...you must live in an area without a lot of high rise buildings that you have to go in ... or you must not have Triskaidekaphobia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thirteenth_floor) ... it is estimated that 85% of buildings do not have a 13th floor ... but have a 14th floor and so on....

I live about 30 miles east of Orlando. We have no high rise buildings here...two story houses maybe but no high rises. I avoid going to the city for the most part because I just feel so out of place. So loud, so many cars, so many rude people, and so much crime!! Not to mention dangerous drivers. I almost got hit three times that day crossing a road where I had a walk sign!!

ETA: I have of course heard that some buildings skip the 13th floor I just have never been in one before LOL. Or maybe I was and did not notice. Since when we go to the city it is mosstly for recreational purposes we dont go into those high rise buildings alot.
