I downloaded the 30-day trial version a few months ago and do remember it being very slow and even crashing a few times. It froze my computer up too. I am afraid to download the full version, for these reasons. I just went to the Adobe website and saw horrible customer reviews too. I know that many of you here use it and I don't really see any complaints. Is there something I don't know...as in I need A LOT of memory for my computer if I am going to use it??

RAM is always a good thing to have. I think a lot of the Adobe products are memory hogs, but someone will correct me if I'm wrong about that.

I would make sure you don't have 849032843902 fonts loading at start up (get a font manager that is capable of temporarily installing fonts when you need them), make sure you have tons of hard drive space too. It's not as big of a problem as too little RAM, but it still helps. If you don't have a lot of RAM available on your machine, you can try running ONLY PSE (no internet in the background, or itunes playing or what have you).

I agree with Colleen on the above ... sometimes users aren't knowledgeable enough to know that they need extra RAM, not loading too many fonts as it slows down your computer, and that maybe their computers cannot run the PSE program ... i.e. the boys' school computer doesn't have the capability to run PSE because of their graphics card limitations.

I would like to know if there is a different problem with PSE 8 because I was planning on going out and buying it TOMORROW for a different computer in our house.

...oh and by the way ... I wouldn't buy it from their website unless they are offering a deal ... because www.softwareoutlet.com has it for cheaper (not in box...just in the sleeve with the registration code) ... I have bought from them before and was planning on buying again ... but got my "rewards" gift certificate from office max and it will pay for most of it...so buying in the store.

I had trouble running PSE 8 on my laptop when I had too many other programs open. Specifically internet explorer was sucking up RAM for no reason. I always make sure it is closed. (And now I use firefox, which seems to be much better memory wise).

I've had no problems at all with mine! I love it! :) I do have plenty of RAM, but I have never had a problem!

(PS you can also get a $20 mail-in rebate for it... I don't think you can on amazon or at like costco because they already have reduced prices... I got mine at staples on sale and then got the $20 rebate!)
